well it happened  after 8,000+km's I dropped my 07 GS500F.... get the (insurance) repair quote on Friday...

the good news is I'm fine, had all the gear on and not really a scratch on any of it except a small rip on one boot....  was only doing about 15km/h when she went down but there is a pile of damage..... my poor baby  I'm so pi$$ed off its not funny  :2guns:

Good to hear you're okay. Sad to say I've had numerous spills, few grazed knees, broken rib. Check your helmet, if it touched down at all seriously consider a new one, better safe than sorry.

EDIT: Since owning my nekkid GS, after all the damage of the various spills, and replacing anytihing vital (nothing cosmetic) it's worked out cheaper than paying the excess asked on comp insurance even once!

well this is one club I've been trying hard to stay out of

the oil cooler is buggered (and leaking) the right hand fork (which is bent) smashed into it... fairings all have either bits broken or scratches.... mirror, indicator, bar end, brake lever, foot peg, ZG touring screen all buggered and the exhaust has some dents and scratches on the can.... that's from a quick look....  :icon_confused:

Bugger man!

I came off at 80 clicks on a course chip asphalt road and got away with less damage.

I also decided just to repair it without going through insurance. I prefer to keep insurance for when something major occurs. Until then I want a super low premium.  :thumb:

Sorry to hear about the damage...  glad to hear the damage wasn't to you.... :kiss3:  Hope the repairs are easy ones..

it happens, you damage will hopefully be covered by your insurance.   we all fall down, i'm 44 and have been on bikes straight since age 7.  having said that i can pretty much guarantee i will have some sort of crash every season.  but then again i ride like a mad man

Glad to hear youre ok, i agree with Galahs on this, insurers tend to write bikes off very easily, so if you can afford it, do the repairs yourself and dont drop the bloody thing again!

Ps: if i remember correctly the difference between a naked and faired Gs was around the $900.00 mark when i bought it Nov 06? dont know how much the fitting for headlamp assembly is to make it naked?(i dont think the assemblies are the same,??)

I did ask for a quote to fix the bike in case it was less than my insurance excess....   if you were building the bike based on the prices of parts  :icon_rolleyes:

the 2 new inner tubes for the forks alone are 20% of what I paid for the bike (including fork seals etc)  :o then there is a full fairing set, front mud guard, full exhaust and all the other consumables - brake lever, peg, engine cap, end weights etc..... haven't heard from the insurance company yet but given the quote, age of the bike (9 months)...... it'll be a write off....

Old man

Hey Zeph,

Any update on the bike?

sent the claim in, waiting on the insurance people... apparently this mob settle claims quickly  :dunno_white:

the quote to fix the bike was well over $5k and DID NOT include labour  :o (I'll be more accurate once everything is settled)

guess the no claims bonus is gone

indeed, but get teh check, buy it back from ins. co, and rebuild using gstwin parts/ebay/whatever source, and keep the otehr 4k for a new bike lol
