This is just a quick note to mention I was very pleased with tire shopping at this website:

http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/

I ordered my tires online on a Sunday evening and had them at my back door by Thursday morning.  I arranged installation at a local KTM dealership, dropped the bike and the tires off on Thursday afternoon, and rode home on Friday afternoon.  Just get your labor quotes before making your purchase and weigh the options.  Stealerships were looking to charge me $100-120 per tire just for the rubber itself.  AMT had both delivered to my door for $147.46!  Even if I'd been charged the labor rates I was quoted ($75 for just bringing the bike in without taking time to remove the wheels myself, $50 if I just bring the wheels in), the amount I saved on the tires made it all worthwhile.

Anybody else have a better experience anywhere else?   It SHOULD be a while before I need tires again, but if i can do better, I'd be happy to know where.

---FYI--For the record, I got the factory spec 110/70-17 and 130/70-17 in the Avon AM26Roadrider. $61.44 for the front, and $69.23 for the rear.  Total of $147.46 including shipping via FedEx.

the stealership here got me tires for $60 f and $70 rear delivered... going to do the install at a local shop that charges nothing... cool place to hang out too. BT-45's, 110 70 and 130 70 or something like that.

that price i couldn't beat online after shipping. :)

My shop only charged me 25 to mount and balance which they didn't need, to do it all if I brought both in off off the bike.  I got some pirelli sport demons and they were great.  A little over a hundred per tire but it isn't too bad all things considered.  I'm going to get those rx-01 road winners next time from el cheapo company and see how they rate.
GS500E with a bunch of cool stuff!

Your stealership doesn't meet the standards.  They must be an actual DEALership!  :icon_lol:

How much was shipping for the tires? I hate sites that post low prices and charge ridiculous shipping especially since motorcycle superstore will ship tires for for only 10 bucks more than standard shipping and combines shipping for tire sets.

I paid $16.79 for shipping.  Although AMT is based out of Scottsdale, Arizona, my order shipped from their warehouse in Fletcher, North Carolina--to Ohio--FedEx ground.  I think after looking at the motorcycle-superstore site, I did check that site before I ordered.  I struggled to find the factory recommended sizes, and the prices did seem a few dollars more expensive.  For the record, since I didn't state this above, I got the factory spec 110/70-17 and 130/70-17 in the Avon AM26Roadrider. $61.44 for the front, and $69.23 for the rear.  Total of $147.46.
