COME ON CASIUSA....................drag out that old ass Telecaster and sing with me

#LITTLE HONDAwritten by Brian Wilson and Mike Loveperformed by the Beach Boys

Go!
I'm gonna wake you up early cause i'm gonna take a ride with you.
We're goin' down to the honda shop, i'll tell you what we're gonna do.
Put on a ragged sweatshirt, i'll take you where you want me to.

First gear, it's all right (honda, honda, go faster, faster)
Second gear, i'll lean right (honda, honda, go faster, faster)
Third gear, hang on tight (honda, honda, go faster, faster)
Faster, it's all right.

It's not a big motorcycle,
Just a groovy little motorbike.
It's more fun than a barrel of monkeys,
That two-wheeled bike.
We'll ride on out of town
To anyplace i know you like.

Chorus
First gear, it's all right (honda, honda, go faster, faster)
Second gear, i'll lean right (honda, honda, go faster, faster)
Third gear, hang on tight (honda, honda, go faster, faster)
Faster, it's all right.

It climbs the hills like a Matchless,
Cause my honda' built really light.
When i go in to the turns
Better hang on tight.
I'd better turn on the lights
So we can ride my honda tonight.

Repeat chorus

Chords involved are C F G G7 and D7         show me when to change and I think we can do this one
They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here? -Paul Harvey Quote

P.S.

The GSX-F does look like poo....

It's not considered a real supersport either.

Wilson you old reprobate Hardley Abelson belongs one place and one place only....In the fields plowing.

Alll farm equipment has 2 names Massey-Ferguson, ford-newholland, John Deere, moto-guzzi and harley davidson.

The only reason those peices of crap still exist is the protectionist practices taken by our government to keep them from being plowed under by the Japanese who do it better and for less money than Hardley can.

I wouldn't lick your nasty armpit even if shaved clean and dork that nasty thing.

Now this conversation is over.

And you better realize that this is good natured banter...you old coon ass

What you really want is a Rocket III.  I would plug a Ducati, but they don't make a cruiser, so it's the next best thing :thumb:  On the plus side, if your car ever breaks down you can tow it to the shop with your bike

Id rather ask this in the non GS forum directly. I trust a lot of your opinions.

So Ive had my 93 for 7 years and been here i think 4 of them. But I think I may have found her replacement. Im a short guy only 5'6 ish and the seat height of the GS has always ben a problem for me. Now i know i can cut that down an inch or so by going with a Corbin seat or lowering the bike down. But I made the trek into the local Harley dealership and saw a new Sportster 883L.

As an ex-salesman I knew not to buy it on the spot. Because at the point it was an emotional purchase. Im riding my 93 (finally) to save on gas. But supposedly it gets 60mpg which isnt to far off my GS. And I can plant both feet on the ground with room to spare. The L has a 25.6" seat height. I test rode a 1200 Sportster but I dont need a big engine like that. It felt like it was getting away from me. I could teach myself to get used to it. But the 883 should be good for cruising and even some longer trips.

Now you dont ask about buying Sportsters on a Sportster frum if you want an unbiased answer. And you dont ask about buying a GS on a GS forum if you want unbiased. So I step up and ask you the GS community pros and cons of this.

The gas mileage is good. The price isnt to bad. Its going to be about $8500. Been trying to figure out if i could get something better from another manufacture. But there is still that feeling of the fact that its made in the US. Plus it really seems like Harley is trying to add some modern tech to the bikes. Fuel injection across all ranges. Rubber mounted engines (Welcome Harley to 1950!).  Gauges that actually tell you something and gas tanks that arent in the 2 gallon range (although the L has a 3.3 only).

My GS had all that work done to it. Runs like a top and is fine for me. But Im one of those people who just want a cruiser and ive gotten my money out of her with no regrets.

Thoughts comments?

Hey, how's it going ? Ya, I like going to the stealerships myself and sitting on 'new' bikes now and again. Most of the new bikes have the gs beat with options, creature comforts, etc agreed. The thing that gets me: It's just two wheels. I can lean a mountain bike, or a gs, or a $60,000 chopper. Being a cheapskate (with medical bills) and not much cash, the gs fits the bill.

That's my opinion about MOST THINGS motorcycles ^^

Here's my opinion about the sportster:

It's a HD. That's a problem for me. I admit it. It does have decent ergos, pleasing looks, and parts are available for when they fall off (couldn't resist) that are easily found. The power is good, the handling is, well, it's a motorcycle anyway, and should outperform a car in acceleration, gas milage, all the important stuff.

I like the feel of the cruiser's seats and bars provided they have foam grips. There is a hella lot of shakin going on with those things, and I found it unacceptable.

I'll give them credit for finally stepping into the world of fuel injection and drive belts. Suzuki could benefit by using some of that tech. I'd love to have them both on a gs myself.

The funny thing about HD's is whenever I see one parked that has a normal non-digital odometer, there ARENT ANY MILES ON IT ! 15,000-20,000 seems like the top end of milage. The few people I've shared workspace with that rode HD's traded in their bikes at around 20-25,000 miles, because it was 'old' or whatever reason. I really didn't understand it at the time. Now I think it's just the aloof attitude that "I can afford the payment (notice, not "I can afford it" !) so I'm getting one" and not really any sense behind it.

What it all comes down to is, you're the one sitting on it. Be it a gs500, ninja, vintage bmw, cb750, or a brand new busa. If it fits your frame, doesn't hurt your wallet (I mean paying cash) and doesn't disrupt your life by requiring constant attention, sure, get it.

Good luck with your decision. Nothing wrong with asking for the opinions on the gs forum. These guys (for the most part anyway) always give good information, and really enjoy riding. I know I do ! :D

Thanks and because of this I'll be looking at some alternatives to this.  I was smart enough not to put a non-refundable deposit on one.

the kawi 900 classic is a nice looking bike IMO. but it is freakin huge! i've never seen a 900 that was as big as this. the reason for this i'm told is because kawi used the same frame for it as their larger bikes, 1600 etc. giving it that, "big boy" look.  i didn't sit on the one i saw, there wasn't enough room in the showroom to get a good feel for it. i've sat on an m50, seems ok. most everyone who buys any of the cruisers you've mentioned will swear by them. they've all got a loyal fanbase. as far as "best bang for your buck", i can't help you. i'm kinda in the same boat as you except i have no bike at all. so i've been searching as well. there are so many to chose from. decide what you want in a bike, then look for bikes with those features at each manufacturer and narrow it down from there i guess. that's what i'm doing. although i must say i've changed my mind a few times.

i sat on a couple of bikes at the local HD dealership today. an 883 custom and a 1200 low. i was comfy on both but suprisingly more comfortable on the 1200 low. maybe it's cuz my legs didn't have to stretch as much to firmly plant both feet down while sittin on the bike.  :dunno_white:  both were nice looking bikes though IMO.

Nope.  V-Strom is the correct name.  Otherwise known as the DL 650 and DL 1000.  Bad ass bike, too.  Same engine as the SV.  I really miss mine, but will be getting another one when I can.

From what I've heard the V-strom is a fantastic TOURING bike. Stabile, good ergos, and heavy enough to soak up bumps / vibrations. Good power, all that. :)

no prob  from my views on the sportie. for one, one can buy an 883, and bump it up to a 1200, AND still have factory warranty coverage.  :thumb: ive done this swap myself, takes about 3 hours  :thumb:

yama, is the suspension system and everything the same on these bikes? i've been trying to compare them and they seem close to identical to me. the 1200 actually weighs 2 pounds less than the 883.  of course that's according to the numbers on the harley website. oh, and mileage isn't really a big difference either. but you know, the bike i sat on today, it was so sexy. the paint color. oh,man, i think the seat was wet when i got off!  it was a 1200 Low....Crimson Red Sunglo was the color. now, online, it doesn't look that great but in person......damn. and the sales guy said it's even sexier in the sunlight!  :thumb:
