for some reason the 86-87 isnt listed in Joris' site as fitting (from memory). I thought it was the 91-95 only. But, the desctiption says it'll fit a 12" center to center so in that regard it may fit.  Either way this shock will require grinding of the shock linkage to fit-true for 91-03 only, will bolt in to 89-90 models.

NO!

That won't fit the GS.

The bottom of the shock that connects to the linkage is wrong.
It needs to be shaped like a horseshoe (for lack of a better term).
Look at the stock shock and you'll see what I mean.

89-95 gsxr shocks will fit.
96-99 are way too long in length, even though the connections are right.
00-03 have the reservoir on the body of the shock, so clearence issues will arise.

Yea Its called a clevise... this is eyelet and eyelet... we need eyelet and clevise...

And "gas recharge" on a shock can run $50 and up.

88-95 750 and 89-97 or 98 1100 withh work on the GS. Yea gas recharge is expensive... they have to fill 300 psi nitrogen in the thing.

learn something new every day. And to think all this time I was following Joris' info on 91-95 only.

Well between 92 and 94 750 shocks there are some differences... the coil was wider on the 94, and the rate was stiffer, the internal valving and stuff was also different making it more resistant to fade etc... (Dont know specifics... haven't opened either one) but externally they were the same. For the GS though all these work about the same. I think 88 was the slingshot and didn't have the remote reservoir I think.
