I think I got confused along the way.I thought you were going with the over and under light set up.It's cool either way.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

Didn't really work over under,  the available space on the fairing just isn't there.

Yea I see that.I didn't know how big the lights would be.A little larger than I was thinking.

Yeah, they are larger than I envisioned, but I'm pretty pleased with the results and worst case the holes are inside of the standard headlight area so I always have the option of going that way.  Like I said, I like the look and they're bright as all hell.

I recently saw a dual sport that had side by side head lights and one was bigger than the other.I thought about getting some projectors and doing the same thing on my project bike.

One of the Bimmer bikes uses a similar headlight set up though it's all enclosed in one casing, just one large and then I believe a projector to the side for the high beam.

makenzie71

yeah the new 1200R's are like that.

I still want to see the enclosures made.  Most projectors aren't solitary enclosed pieces...they have to have a housing built around the assembly.  I'd like to see how that was done and if anything was done to make them adjustable.

spc

There is no casing yet, so she's absolutely not going out in the rain.  He had a few ideas and ordered some hightemp rubber sheeting that he's going to use to enclose it.  I just couldn't wait so I went ahead and picked it up.  As far as adjustability, it's rather good, he just cut some brackets to fit onto the stock fairing stay and I'm just shimming it up and down as I please with washers.  I've got it aimed pretty well right now.

OK, got a wild hair up my ass and decided to do a valve clearance check.  Thanks to the guys at cacycleworks and their awesome instructional videos it didn't really take that long.  The only real pain in the ass parts were taking the tank off/ pushing the electricals forward and unbolting the rear shock.  The lead cylinder exhaust valve was a pain just because of placement.  Everything was pretty good, the vertical cylinders exhaust valve is at the extreme of acceptable but it was all spot on aside from that.

The noise of this thing is still weird.  I decided to do a check just to put my mind at ease, I've been kinda nutty about it because if any other bike had sounds like that coming from the head I would expect it to die pretty soon.

As far as the bike overall,  I LOVE THIS THING!!!  It just feels so at home leaned way the hell over at obscene speeds.

You have to keep in mind that this bike has a dry clutch, and it's all together a different sort of engine than the GS and the GSXR.

spc

750ss is a wet clutch, though there is a conversion kit out there.  That's pretty far down on my list of mods, but it would be nice at some point.  Aside from the fact that they both have two wheels and an engine pretty much everything is different from the Gix.  Clutch responds differently, suspension responds differently, throttle sure as hell responds differently.  The Duc doesn't really bog down like the Gix would if I was cruising at low RPM's.  The damn valves are just noisy as all hell, it's kinda funny, if someone who doesn't really know much about bikes hears it they ask what's wrong   Of course all the Harley guys just wanna know how the hell a crotch rocket can sound like that. :icon_mrgreen:

spc

I still absolutely love this bike.  The sound, the torque, the attention it draws: It is distinctly Italian.  Why do I have the urge to go get a pizza and some grappa?

I'm dreading the day, but soon the traffic here will be a bit to much for riding and I'll be starting a complete rebuild of the bike.  PC the frame, re-paint, a little fine tuning in other areas.

On a really cool note:  A guy in an F430 Scuderia waved at me the other day.  That shaZam! took me by surprise.

isnt your duc a desmo?, if so they are noisy in the valve train. im looking at a paso, which had it been from a suz. id be looking at a top end rebuild

Every Duc for the last, what, 50 years has been a desmodromic valve train.  A guy on a chopper commented today that I might want to check out my valves cause they sounded a little off, I just laughed.

yamahonkawazuki

i thought so, but LOL some duc owners dont know about desmo. im sure you did, but i still ask out of habit. but yeah desmo valvetrains are and always will be noisy. but cool thing is there is essentially no redline :icon_twisted:
