Hi everybody,

I am new to the board but searched for some answers on the forum and couldn't find anything so I thought I would post the topic. I have a 06 gs500f and when travelling at speeds above 80kmph (55 miles per hour) the rear end moves all over the place (left to right, right to left). At first I thought it was just the wind pushing the bike around, then i checked the tire pressure but it keeps happening and it is sort of freaking me out. Any ideas what it could be? I was thinking I may have to adjust the rear suspension to a stiffer setting since I weight more than most (about 350). Any ideas?

thanks

Check your swing arm play, put the bike on the centerstand and try to move the swing arm left and right, your bearings could be worn.

Had your bike been sitting for a while before you rode it?

ohgood

rear tire low will mean allot of strange movement, it's very unsafe.

ya, crank your pre-load up to 6 or 7 if you're close to 350 lbs.  it will help some.

check your swing arm bushings for wear, and your axle for tightness. :)

Rear wheel alignment and up your rear tire pressure to 41 psi(2.9 bar).Of course cranking the rear shock up all the way to 7.DO NOT RELY ON THE SWING ARM ADJUSTMENT MARKS!!!I measure from the swing arm pivot bolt to the rear wheel axle bolt.Set it to the same distance on both sides. Also check your rear tire for cupping.Feel the tire and look to see if the tire grooves look cut and dipped.
PICS are GONE never TO return.
