Shall we vote to get rid of all of these annoying stickies????

Hi there,
Recently there have been posts from people complaining about the recent rash of "stickies" -- the board topics that stay "stuck" at the top of the feed and that never move down and take their place in the lower lists as people resolve the topics normally.
I must agree -- it's time to get rid of all the stickies.
I'm sorry, I know that Buddha is just trying to be helpful with his o-ring sets and Kat gauge help and all the rest, but really! If he wants a site to offer his services, then let him start on for himself and he can advertise whatever he wants there!
There are five recent ones from Buddha alone!
It's just annoying to have to go way down the list to even find today's posts after making one's way through all of the stickies.
It recently became an issue when he added so many new stickies.
It's nothing personal, really. But it's not fair for anyone here to dominate the site to the detriment of the rest of us.
What does everyone say?
If I post a "OK with the latest round of stickies" or "get rid of all the stickies already!" poll, will people vote?

Thanks and best wishes,
Todd

Easiest way to do that is to make another topic on the main forum.  Call it a stickies page, or a stickies/services page.  Put all of the stickies in there along with any permanent offers such as the buddha may have.  Problem solved and people can still find stuff.  Honestly I forget that they are there because I glanced at them once, and flat forgot.  Until this thread, I hadn't thought about it.
GS500E with a bunch of cool stuff!

OK... Yea... this has been discussed and was supposed to be "taken care of". I don't know why its so hard to just get rid of them.

PLEASE! SAVE THE WHALES!

Umm, well, I don't know if I necessarily agree with removing them. In most cases Buddha's posts are very informative and helpful. So, it's nice having them up top so that they don't get lost in the shuffle.

Thanks dude, I am selling stuff as well as passing on information in some posts, like carbs or kat triples or O rings ... but dunno if stickies are doing anything, but, OK people still ask questions, saves the trouble of bringing back posts from 3 pages down ...
Cool.

How about one stickie at the top of the page entitled: "Buddha's Bargains"  or something of that nature.  The one stickie could have all of the stuff he's selling listed.  Here ya go Buddha.  I consolidated the first entry from each of your posts into this thread.

Rejetting prices, details, and O rings:
Whole carbs
89-00 - $45 and return shipping for carbs.
01+ - $50 and return shipping.

Jets only:
$22 shipped for 89-00.
$24 shipped for 01+

Remember, these do not include O rings, needles, floats, anything really other than a light clean and rejet.

Drilling out stuff is extra $5 per thing that needs to be drilled. Brass caps on air screws are free but I cant guarantee the spigots wont get scraped etc in the process. Brass is a lot harder than cast aluminum and if you are unlucky the aluminum can split, crack, or get nicked while drilling the brass.

These are going to be done on a bench and lightly tested for leaks or other errors and then sent back. Now, if you have a specific issue please name it in a note, I will follow up and check it more thoroughly and tell you.

Remember this not a carburetor rebuild. I could do that but it will be well over $100 on top of jet costs. Swapping out 1-2 O rings pretty much is what all I have had to do so far on even the worst set of carbs. - Please see note on the bottom about this.

I also dont open the choke unless requested and paid for. 99% of carbs have good working chokes. Unless you tell me to open and clean it and pay for it, its going to stay in the carb.

I synch them by eyeball. if they have been synched already tell me, or if they look like they're in synch, I dont touch it.

Weird crap costs more - not just $$ but also time ... like DJ screw up's or busted pilot jet housing or leaks at the butterfly pivot etc etc ...
I have parts off other similar carbs, but when I am out of those, I will have to locate them some where and it takes time.
That is all I have so far on this, but I make it up as I go along.

Having said all this, in over 100 carbs, I am yet to lose a single one. I have brought back atleast 4 carbs from death and am working on the 5th.

I might as well add to this.
Swapping O rings - I should do it as required, and How is $2 per pair of O rings that need to be swapped.
Usually float spigot and top O rings go, but of late I have swapped out float retaining O rings and the guide base O ring as well.
Maybe I should add a charge for opening the choke section too.
Then there is the breakables that may need replacing on the ocassional carb. On an as needed/available basis.

Kat triple and GS triple will be needed from you. Turnaround times may be pretty quick ... I may send you ones I have in lieu of welding on to the one you send me.
Powdercoating not included, shipping not included, batteries not included. Dumb looks are available free though.
Thanks Diaz, I am too lazy to get pics and post them. And I like using pics and write up from people who use the stuff I make, cos as you know, it all works perfectly in my garage   ...
Cool.

Rust preventive tank coating - prices and details

POR 15 coating I will use minimal acid, and essentially not blow holes in any but the most marginal of tanks, and get it all treated and coated. $60 and return shipping. Make sure you send it in a good box, its comming back in the same box with pretty much the same packing.
Turn around times are prolly going to be over a week, and will get longer in winter cos its totally dependent on the weather as well as take a good 3 days to have the fumes dry out and the coating cure on warm days.
I also will try my best to have the coating not get outside on the paint, but no guarantees here, the fuel fitting and vent will have to be cleared as a priority so I'd make sure of that before preserving the paint.
Yea, send it with the fuel fitting in it.
Cool.
Buddha.

I would like to stay with each category. Its easier for people searching for the info.
I'll unstick them if people want, but these stickies are doing a job by keeping people posting about O rings or Idle hovering by opening up a location to do a first scratch type search.
Cool.
