I have a 2007 gs500f and im looking to get more power and better throttle response. The only thing i done to it so far is a k&n air filter.Ive read about changing the front sprocket to a 15t but i drive mostly on freeways and dont wanna lose my top end speed and have my rpms way high.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could spend a lot of time and money and hassle getting your GS to go faster, or you could just spend the money and get instant results with a bigger bike.  :thumb:

I think you've misunderstood what a gs is capable of. Read the wiki as to what the actual horsepower and torque numbers are. You will not increase it much from that without changing pistons, adding a turbo, or nitrous. Reliability, AND power ? Get a bigger bike. GSX-R's are known to be reliable, powerfull, and the parts are everywhere.

As far as throttle response, both the things you mentioned will help:

Rejetting can make the power more linear, smooth, and manageable, for real world riding, NOT TOP END DYNO NUMBERS THAT DON'T MATTER ANYWAY.

Changing to a 15t front will increase your off the line throttle response, and increase your cruising (legal cruising, 55-70) speed rpm a small amount. This may also increase your fuel economy, and get you closer to the sweet spot of torque/power the gs has around 7-9,000 rpm.

Not matter what you do, you want to look for ridability improvements, not dyno numbers. Better tires, better positioning, better suspension will all contribute to a better bike. If there was a bolt on mod for another 50 HP / 50 Ft Lb, everyone would be doing it. The gs just doesn't have it.

IMHO , forget power, go for readability, you'll be glad you did.

The other way is to see if it is running right. If it feels like a slug, maybe something is broke.

Last way is join Weight Watchers and drop 50-100lbs......lol

Lol i know if i lost 50lbs the gs would be alot faster lol..

You can swap out your throttle tube w/ one from an SV. Makes it feel a little more responsive  :thumb:

There is a very very simple way to increase HP and torque. It involves minimum work and takes less than 5 minutes.......just follow the 2 easy steps below.........

1) Unbolt and remove the license plate from your GS5.
2) Refit the license plate to a brand new GSX650F and complete the paperwork as required.
