I saw a thread on svRider.com where they mentioned a cheap alternative to the expensive Suzuki spanner wrench, the Park HCW-5 spanner wrench:

The tool is available through Amazon for about $14:

Apparently the HCW-5 was originally intended for use with bicycles. It seems to work with the Suzuki SV. Does anyone know if this would work for the GS500 too?

Sorry for the confusion.

This wrench is intended for the steering stem locknut. In a related thread (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=40898.0) various derivatives of a drift punch and hammer were suggested to remove this nut. Few people use the Suzuki tool because it is too expensive. When I saw this wrench and thought it might serve as a good compromise.

I'm not sure if the SV and GS500 have the same sized steering stem locknut though  :dunno_white:
