I live in the burbs, near Chicago. Anyone else from around here?

2 hours from Chi-town here.

I'm in Oak Park, and I know we have a few others, although we seem to lose them over time. You can check out www.chicagolandsportbikes.com where a few of us also frequent, but we have been fairly unsuccessful in setting up a group meeting or anything through this forum. I'm down for any of that, and I'd be happy to hang out/see bikes if anyone wants to. Where in Chicago are you?

Our Illinois meetup thread is dead, but here's the link to it. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=7302.0

I know a few names in the area but few are still riding/ riding GS500s.

I live in Naperville but don't have a bike...yet.  Maybe I'll see some of you around next season.

Just got a '96 GS500. I live in the Gold Coast section of Chicago. I would be game for any kind of meet up.

Okay, now that I'm riding I thought I'd revisit this thread in case someone is in the area.  I know SmartDrug is also on CLSB but is anyone else in the Chicagoland area (specifically the suburbs)?  I live in Naperville and saw what looked like a yellow GSF on the way home yesterday but I couldn't tell.  It looked like it had the side fairings removed from my vantage point but that was admittedly a poor one.  Anyways, if anyone around here is in the area and wants to ride, let me know.

SmartDrug

I'm actually in Naperville now too, I bought a place just off of Route 59, I'll PM you my phone number, hit me up if you need help wrenching on the GS (I miss working on simple bikes).  Cheers!

Lombard FTW

ps if you see a black gs500e and a guy wearing an alpinestars jacket on roosevelt, harlem, or the eisenhower from 6:30-8:00am, its probably me going to work.

SmartDrug

I went to HS with a guy named Aaron Ward,  Marmion Military Academy by any chance?

i guess aaron ward is a pretty common name...
do you have more pics of your bike?

It probably wasn't you, Aaron, but I saw my first GS at Maggiano's in Naperville last weekend.  It was a black '05 model and I thought the rider worked there but I haven't seen it since.  Anyways, we should get a GS ride together some time.  My work schedule lets me off on the weekends for the most part but the next couple of weekends have been planned out by the wife.  Seriously, though, we should get together sometime.

Hey guys.

I just bought a 92 GS500E off craigslist from a guy in LaGrange park.  It needs some carb work, but as soon as I have that sorted out, I am up for meeting up for a ride.  I live in Glen Ellyn, which is right next to Lombard, and cant wait to get this thing on the road.

Here's the new  horse in my stable....

Niiiice. Welcome aboard, Jim.  I work in Glen Ellyn (among other places) at a golf course, Glen Oak Country Club.  If you see a yellow GS in the area (with a red/black helmet) it's probably me.  I've actually seen a few GS500's in the area lately.  I saw one on Butterfield the other night that was a 2006 model but I couldn't tell if it was blue or black.  Anyways, hopefully we can get a GS ride going sometime this summer if we can gather everyone up.

Matter of fact, my wife and I are trying to go to Starved Rock on Saturday and anyone who wants to come is invited.  It's not really an organized group ride, just a few people who happen to be going in the same direction.

Thanks Mark!  Not sure if my parts will arrive by then (jet kit from Buddha), but even if they do, I probably would not be able to join this time.

I am still recovering from some minor surgery, and will probably be another week or two before I get out there.  I want to play Glen Oak, but just started golfing not too long before my surgery.  Hopefully I can get out soon.  I miss it!

I did play at Wild Rock  which is a new ccourse up in Wisconsin Dells.  Awesome course!

We should definitely put something together for the near future though.  I feel great, just don't want to find out the hard way that I pushed too hard.

Definitely don't want you to push it, man.  Still, sometime we should get together.  I don't play golf (not because I'm black, but because I'm awful at it) but Glen Oak has free golf for employees on Mondays (when the course is closed) so maybe I'll look into that.  I think some of the guys who work there and ride also play golf so that could be fun.  Anyways, get well soon and we'll see ya out there in no time.

Sounds good.

Thanks for the kind words.

All the other guys at work are riding their bikes, and I sure have the itch.

A new engineer just started yesterday and drove in his brand new Kawasaki Ninja 650.  Sweet looking ride.

I'll IM you soon.
