Doing some work on the beast the last week and a half or so- Took carbs out to rejet, K&N lunchbox installed, Jardine Full System will be here Friday(which happens to be the 28th bday, hope to ride), Vortex 49T rear sprocket, GSXR pass sets, Cosmetic work, etc.

Got some pics of the bike torn apart and the pass sets I welded today.  I think I need a longer chain for the 49T rear sprocket, does anyone have a link? Also how much top end mph am I going to lose, am I better off going a little smaller?

Looking good, does the rear brake caliper bolt up to the passenger pegs?

It's not bolted to the brake, but it does look so in the pic.  Its still attached to the brake arm, I did have to bend it to fit 160 tire and 4.5 wheel.

Do I need a Longer Chain??

I was reading some info on the wiki, and it didn't mention anything about getting a longer chain. You may have to adjust your wheel to get the proper tension. Maybe someone else can chime in on this. I just went to a 15 tooth in the front, only dropped one tooth, but I didn't have to purchase a new chain.

Yes odds are you are going to need a longer chain. If you move the rear wheel forward as far as it can go and you can not put the chain on, then odds are you need a longer chain. How long is the question? My guess would be a few links(1 or 2) but is only a guess, you could calculate it. Also a 49T sprocket is going to be crazy on the streets.

I'm starting to rethink the 49T sprocket, I'm looking for a little more pick up on the lower gears from a size change, maybe 49T too much.  What is the best sprocket setup?? What do you guys have??

If you're looking for more low end giddy up, consider a 15 tooth front sprocket. They're very cheap and installation is simple. If you're still looking for more you could go to a 14 tooth up front.

stock rear and 15T front sprocket is the most common setup, I believe. That's what I got! And if you're not planning to ride front wheel up all day long, it's a good setup. It gives me better acceleration and overall better throttle response.

49T rear must be fun though  :icon_twisted: crazy wheelies
