I long for the day when everyone just gets along.  I'm white and I'm from Mississippi....born and raised here.  There are quite a few people in my family who I consider to be racist.  Mostly older folks; Aunts, Uncles, Grandfather.  I used to have several black friends.  Really good friends, most of whom I still am friends with to this day.  But a few years ago I began to see what was happening.  Most whites were being nice to blacks and treating them with the respect that any human deserves.  The blacks, on the other hand, weren't playing nice.  I began hearing words such as reparations and affirmative action.  I began to see blacks acting as if I owed them something.  Even some of my "friends" who are my age began having a bad attitude towards me.  I'm 29.  I've never owned a slave, never wanted a slave, and have never seen a slave.  I surround myself with positive thinking people.  I try to anyway.  The general consensus of my friends is this:  Blacks have gone too far.  They have black history month, Miss Black America, BET, NAACP, run almost every major city in America, and anywhere there is a large population of blacks, as compared to other races, there is more crime.  Where's the White history month, Miss White America, WET, NAAWP?  If any of those were to become a reality, there would be riots in the streets.  Those are facts.  Even my black friends agree with me.  I am part of a younger generation than my ancestors.  I don't need to know that blacks were slaves, or how they were treated.  It concerns me about as much as a grain of dust blowing across the surface of Mars.  I care about the here and now.  I care about how I get along with blacks.  I care about how blacks are treated today, not how they were treated 60 years ago!  I owe nothing to the black community.  Racism in my family will die with my parents/grandparets because my brother and I are not like them.  It will not be passed on to my children.  They will not hear a racist remark in my home.  If parents would stand up and say enough is enough and stop preaching this f%$king hate to their children, it would all disappear in one or two generations!  If parents would take responsibility for their actions and raise their children as they should, there would be no adoption classes because there would be no children to adopt!  Babies would stop having babies, drug use would decline, violence in schools, actually everywhere, would drop.  I'm not an extremely religious person, but when I was growing up, we would start each school day with the Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer!  kids weren't bringing guns/knives to school back then.  Children weren't being shot on college campuses.  I'm sick and tired of hearing the same old shaZam! every day.  Drop the f%$king race card and we can all get over it and get on with our lives.  Blacks should learn to go through life without trying to make some white guy feel guilty about what his grandparents did to the black guys grandparents!  You aren't owed something because of the color of your skin.  Indians were treated much worse than blacks will ever be treated so please let all the blacks know that their time in the racial spotlight is up.  They've milked it for all it's worth.  Whites are getting fed up.  I'm not a racist, but there are some folks out there that kind of make me want to......nevermind.  sorry for the rant.  it just f%$kin pisses me off.

Actually I would like to see this thread locked, I see no positives in this discussion. Again thats just my opinion.

How will anything ever get "fixed" or worked out if there is no discussion?  It's true that black women can cook fried chicken.  Come to Mississippi and stop anywhere and ask where to get the best chicken.  I guaran-damn-tee you they won't say KFC.  They'll tell you to go find a soul food restaurant.  They're everywhere here.  EVERY soul food restaurant I have ever been to has black women as cooks.  I'm not so sure that all black women can cook chicken.....I just know that ALL of the ones I have ever been around can cook like crazy.  It may not be a fact in Florida, but it is where I come from.

I have a feeling that would be a very small class.

Jon the Buddha, what kind of instructor are you with the fed govt?  I am a Training & Development Specialist for the Dept. of Defense.  We train soldiers on tank and bradley simulators.   

So this morning I awake to an email that a student at the university I go to was robbed and shot/stabbed last night on the street I'm living on next year. Two black gentlemen, so apparently white parents have to go to a class so they can raise them to be like that?

Sorry for the stereotyping and racism, I'm just pretty pissed about the whole thing. I know not all are like that.

I even just read an autobiography called "Coming of Age in Mississippi" about a black girl growing up poor in the south, after reading that I was about as sympathetic as you can get. Then you hear about something like what happened last night and it really just floors me.

I fail to see a need  for a class if you're a white couple wanting to adopt a black child.  he/she is just the same as a white child except for skin color.

parents who give birth need classes in many cases I think.    and some good firm discipline wouldnt hurt the kids either. a good whack when they step out of line, and they're gonna be just fine.   just dont get carried away.  I see this as  being the bigger problem than ANYTHING in kids these days, theres a very large lack of discipline.

I'm with the Federal Aviation Administration.  I teach Air Traffic Control Radar Systems.  I should clarify that I don't teach the controllers how to use it, I teach the Maintenance Techs, Second Level Support personel, and Engineers how to keep them working and how to fix 'em when they brake.

Yeah there's a lots of questions but it's ingrained bigotry of society that prevent each of them from having a simple answer...like "maybe he's adopted" or "they're babysitting" or "maybe his/her first relationship/marriage didn't work". ah just plain silly.  i too have been called "cracker" "little white boy"  "Casper" and other racially directed names.  i just ignore them.  however had i said something similar it would have been a different story all together.  like any race there are racists within.  it has alway been and always will be.  the better man is the one that refuses to fall into the trap and maintain ones dignity.

Having lived in the South my whole life, I have found that there isn't a whole hell of a lot of difference between a Piece of Crap Black Person and a Piece of Crap White Person.  They share a very important characteristic...being a Piece of Crap.

All white people are not white trash, and all black people are not the 'N' word.  There is a huge difference between them both.

Not all white people hope "the south will rise again", and not all black people hope for a "race war".  Those that do...put 'em all on an island with their choice of weapons and let them fight it out.  Hopefully none will survive.

SIMNET...They've all been upgraded recently.  Still using the old fiberglass shells from the 80's but each has about a half a million dollars worth of computers to run them.  Graphics are MUCH better than they used to be.  If you're ever in MS, message me and we'll let you come by and play on them.  They can be a lot of fun.  Screw xbox or playstation......

Hehe, we have a 747-400 Simulator in the building next to mine.  The real deal...on big-ass hydrolic legs.  Cost about 15 million dollars.  The guys that run it are pretty cool, so about twice a year I take them a couple dozen donuts and they let me 'play'.  That MF'er is FUUUUUUUNNN!!!

When they put in the ultra-severe weather simulations, that thing will put your stomach up in your throat!
