2004 GS500 Replacement Fork Seals, NO WHERE TO BE FOUND

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and NO ONE has any after market replacement fork seals for my 2004 GS500. My progressive springs should be here soon and I have replacement pads for the front brakes, but that's all for not if I can't get seals.

The only seal I can get are OEM seals from the suzuki dealer, for $37+tax EACH! Ridiculous.

I'd like to know if seals from another bike would work? The shop also said that if I could get the measurements for the seals they could cross-reference them for me. The dealership doesn't have any in so I can't even measure those without buying them.

The suspension is getting weird and the front brakes are pretty much useless, she's parked for good until I can get those seals...

Maybe try another dealer?

I live in Vancouver, Canada and the oil seals were only $11 each:
51173-08C20    dust seals       @$11.30 each-$22.60
51156-40301    ring stopper    @$5.22 each  -$10.44
51153-08C20    oil seal           @$10.78 each-$21.56
51117-40300    o-ring             @$3.01   each-$6.02

The parts came in from the main warehouse in Toronto. Because you are closer to Toronto, it shouldn't be any more expensive to buy these in Nova Scotia.  :dunno_white:

I called the Suzuki dealership again and talked with the guy about the seals. He said he was 100% sure that the seals were different in the 2004 model then in the 1998 model like I used to have.

I'm going to call the main warehouse in Toronto this evening, maybe they'll ship me a pair at a less ridiculous price.

I'm going to go ahead and get a set of 98' seals.

If they're a little different is there anything that I have to do to alter them so that they'll work or do I just install them in the ordinary fashion?

You wouldn't be able to alter them. They are just rubber seals

Hahaha I was just thinking along the lines of sandpaper vs. rubber, but I doubt that would be advisable, a rough area might invalidate the seal. I hope these things work out, my GS has been in my driveway bleeding for 4 days now.
