I need a set of clean, working carbs. Mine don't work. Nothing I do makes them work, and nothing my mechanic did could make them work, so I'm throwing them in the trash. I'll rejet when they get here, but I don't want to have to replace o-rings or float assemblies. I need a set of carbs off a good running bike that maybe got wrecked.

-if- i can find a cause for their issues, i'll fix it, and ship them back, repay me shipping, no other cost. if i can't find the cause, or it's too expensive to fix, i'll de-assemble them and keep the things that matter.

If your valves are out of tolerance the carbs can't get enough vacuum to operate properly.Have you had/done a valve adjustment?Plus the carbs could be out of balance.Did either of you check for vacuum leaks,especially around the intake boots and air box boots?If you're trying to run it with out the air box, it will not run right, unless it's been jetted for a K&N lunch box air filter.

On tuesday I managed to disassemble the head, lap the valves, install a new cam chain tensioner, adjusted the valves, and cleaned and rejetted the carbs. I also have replaced the intake boots with brand new one boots and new o-rings. The bike has a K&N and doesn't run correct with the airbox installed or not installed. It runs great for about 2 minutes, then loads up with fuel, runs rich, won't hold an idle and dies. If you turn off the fuel petcock, about 30 seconds later it clears up and runs great until it finally runs out of gas. Current jetting is 30/150, 2 shims on the needles, 3 turns out. Bike is at 2300ft above sea level. Who is buddha and where does he live? I've owned this bike for 6 months now and still haven't ridden it once. If I thought I could get more than 300 for it, I wouldn't own it anymore.

No wonder.The jetting is way off.It should be 40/142.5 a number4 washer under each needle and 3 turns out.This is with a K&N lunch box and aftermarket exhaust.
