heres a video... it is a camera phone so you got to lisen to it carfully....as for a valuve adjustment i have no idea when that was last done. i only had the bike for abbout 1 month now.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzuzlP-CYFQ

ok, so there is a clicking, can't tell much from the video. :(

are you certain your headers are tight and not leaking ?

i'd start with a piece of hose to your ear to find out exactly which area the noise is coming from. valve adjustment may be all it needs, but it's really hard to hear anything in the video.

ill try to make another video l8er on....i hope all ot need is a valve adjustment....it almost sounds like a valve is hitting the piston... but ill try the stethiscope idea...ill report later

I hear the usual cam knock, valves needing adjusted, and possibly an exhaust leak between the head and header pipe.

man, that's allot of chugga chugga. my ears aren't as good as I thought or something, so I'm not going to speculate. Doesn't sound normal to me though. :(

so ill try the valve adjustment and try to tighting the header... but so what else do you think is wrong maybe a carb needing to be adjusted??? just by the plugs look i might have to... one seems to be running rich and other lean.... plus side is that i got may eruo bars in today and my signals... ill take my bike to my mechanic and have him help me....ill get back to you guys tommorrow....

ben2go

Could be that the carbs are out of sync.Adjust the valves first before balancing the carbs.

well i took the valve cover off and triped over somthing and herd a jingle then i looked up to see my exaust flange really loose...... tighed that up... check all the shims.. they were all good.... then started her up ran awsome...so i guess no back presser= huge  lose in torque and motor scare....but i got another problem my clutch is slipping if im gental im ok but if i give her hell shell slip... so my question is what part of the cluch do i need to replace pads, disc, all, where do i find a nice relible cluch for a good price...thx

ben2go

Whoaaaaa!!!!If you're using auto oil change to an motorcycle specific oil.You have a wet clutch and auto oils have friction modifiers that casue wet clutches to slip.If you do need a clutch get a Barrnet or EBC clutch kit for a 99-02 SV650S.You need thr kit with friction plates and springs. This set up will be stronger and take more abuse which helps it last longer.

Got my kit from ebay.Remember to soak the friction disc in oil while you disassemble everything.

well how easy is it change a clutch..... 1-10... i fell bad cause i c ant keep up with my dads bike

ben2go

Took me a half hour. You will need a gasket for the right side cover($11 from dealer),you will need a torque wrench that reads in inch pounds not foot pounds for the 6 clutch bolts.Don't use any type of sealant on the gasket it'll end up clogging the oil passages in the side cover.

a little over 13k

Seems pretty unlikely that you'd need a new clutch at 13,000 miles.

I think you should try adjusting your clutch first. Use the adjustment screw on the left side of the bike (behind that small panel in the sprocket cover).
