Note from the ride today.......

I happened to pull up to someone riding an 84 Yamaha RZ350 today and couldn't help but notice how similar the tank was to the pre-01 GS500. Anyone know if there is a back story to this?

I started to look for other images of them when I got home, and the solid paint (blue) looked more like the GS's tank than this:



Maybe just a design/look of the times for that period.........

The GS500 style of tank dates back to '83 to the original Honda Interceptor which had the first perimeter frame which dictates the shape of the tank.   IIRC, the VF500 Interceptor had the first "V" shaped body work with the tail pointing upwards.  All ubiquitous now.
