Witnessed aftermath of a scooter crash today

I came around the corner by the neighborhood cow pasture today, and there were three guys stopped on scooters in the road.  One of them was sort of staggering around.   It must have just happened as when I asked if someone had taken a spill, I sort of got some black look and a "well duh" attitude.   Anyway I helped them look for some of their gear and offered the service of my truck/ramp in case the bike wouldn't start or the guy just didn't feel like riding it back.   Got some more attitude to the effect of "he's going to ride it home".   Ok cool, see you guys later.   They were black guys and the spillee had severe road rash down to white meat on his right arm and hand, shirt all holed up, bump on forehead (was wearing an open face helmet).

The nicer of the three did thank me for my efforts and commented favorably on my GS :thumb:.  I put 60 miles on it this afternoon...running just about great now, thanks to GStwins.com.

Now that he has been "down the road" he may go out and buy some riding gear.

Scooter riders are a joke for wearing gear.

Well, some people just don't learn.

I wouldn't worry about it commuterguy, you did more than your duty.  Judging by the injuries, I'm sure there was a lot of emotion going around, so they may not have meant what they said.

I've never understood the scooter gear thing myself.  Although, I do notice they wear helmets.  I suppose that's a step in the right direction.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

There was a scooter boi turned across 4 lanes of traffic.5 cars, luckily no trucks, tried to avoid him.All 5 collided with each other and 2 ran him and the scoot over.Scooter boi was killed the scoot just suffered some broken plastic. Here in SC you are supposed to be 16 years old with a permit to ride scooters. The cops ignore boys young as 9 years old on scooters. It's sad to see the boys getting killed frequently on them.I hate to say this, but all of the scooter accidents in my area are mostly young black boys age 10 to 14.I must add that I live in an area where white people are the minority. Also, most of the boys, involved in said accidents,I either know them, work with their families,or grew up with their parents. It's truely sad. Most of them had a bright and promising future.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

Someone in my family gives me a lot of grief about my GS500.  That same person commented how much they would love to have a Vespa.  WTF???

1) they were not bikers
2) they were idiots
3) you did all you could, they refused (hellllo ?), so enjoy the ride

Some people just can't be helped for their ignorance and pre-dispositions. I've seen so many folks on scoots that just have no idea. When you offer a bit of advice about flat tires, no signals, proper lane position, they just scoff and sneer. So be it.

Did you whoolie your bike as you left ? ;)

Im not sure if you have the phrase in the states but over in merry old england here, we call them Mod's, They ride Vespa's, wear parker jackets with BIIIIIIIIG fluffy hoods and tend to think theyre cool, skinny jeans a pointy boots are the chosen fashion here.

Their reaction to real bikers is one of hatred, and they obviously get a similar reaction in return.

We've got the Vespa assholes here.  They ride horribly, do everything they can to keep real bikes from passing and give foul looks to any bike capable of more than 40mph.  I've gotten to the point that I leave em a little rev-limit soundtrack as I pass em :icon_mrgreen:

I've noticed that scooter boys have this resentment cuz they couldnt afford anything better. I have a schwinn bike bell that I have mounted on my handlebars that I like to give a ring as I down-shift and make more noise than necessary  :icon_twisted:
Seemed like a good idea at the time

Most of the scooter riders I see around here have a half helmet, flip flops, and shorts on.  :nono:
Well, either you're part of the problem, part of the solution,...

isn't that what Quadrophenia was about?... too bad that movie was anti biker. I never understood how scooters, Mod's if you will,  could be considered the cool side.... go figure  :dunno_white:

I found out today that the spillee was drunk and dumped himself.   The attitude was from one of his two buddies, the other one was cool, said thanks, liked my GS.   I get along with all folks but like you guys say there was no need to hang around and wait for a problem to develop.
