PLEASE STICKY THIS, or something similar.

There has been a rash of non-shipping sellers (ok, lousy SCAMMERS) on gstwins lately. Some parts show up, not as promised, or if at all. Some sellers are just plain lazy, lying, or even thieving schmucks.

I enjoy the atmosphere of gstwins daily, and would like to see that it's members continue to enjoy the trading/buying/selling that is comfortable here.

On other forums, members are required to have at least 30 (and in some cases 100) posts, and at least 1 or 2 people to vouch for them that are well known before being allowed to post sales.

I'd like to see a similar policy used here, in our fantastic forum. I don't want gstwins getting a bad name, or it's users labeled as suckers either. We trust each other (well, ok, a little ;)   ) and enjoy the company, advice, expertise, and of course very cheap parts.

Please vote in the poll, and please, include only your thoughts ON TOPIC about implementing this.

Thanks !

- Kyle

(the poll disappeared, so I added another)

And how to new members plan to get vouched for if no one will deal with them since no one has vouched?  Makes no sense.

i have never had a problem either, for the most part I have only made purcases from long time members. I would not buy from some newb anyway  :icon_mrgreen: But I think 30 days 30 posts is a good start. However I dont see anyway to enforce it other than if you are making a purchase BEWARE! and dont buy from newbs  :thumb:

Skidmax - there has to be someone neutral that will take the $ (I vote for peetey pablo) and the seller will ship the item, once the buyer gets it and its as described, peetey pablo will give the $$ to the seller. Its better than paypal, they do have some escrow type, but you can draw and run away with paypal. In this case they cant. So new sellers get more reputation and they can say, yea see I sold a bunch of crap and no one complained, so I must be good.
Cool.

I have had several, in fact there is 2 clowns that have still stiffed me. There used to be 4-5, but one by one I found them and collected (or they found me and paid ...)
I also tend to not buy from newbies, though I have met dealt with some pretty good newb's  ... in fact I bought ~300 bucks from a pretty new newbie, but he came through pretty well. Typically I run into them loooong before I buy from them cos of the carb or the handle bar or the case guards or the flange business I did.
Cool.

There is a trader feedback, and many will buy their GS500 ride, and sell it before 6 months is even up!

That's cool. I really don't care who holds the money, so long as 4-5 other members can get to their address in 30 minutes and pummel them with fig newtons. ;)

The whole deal of actually insuring shipping comes up then, which is no big deal at all.

We already have a gstwins (well, kinda) account started by lewismug, a month or so ago when Kerry's valve adjustment kit took a off with some punk kid.

By no means do I mean to undermine anything that is already in place. I just want to know if I buy/sell something, no one gets screwed and damages the reputation of the site.

SS- or whoever, can you merge the two threads I started. That was my chicken  up, sorry. :)

I guess this is just to SELL, right?

Because I know it was a pain to go to KatRiders looking for a shock and not be able to post a WTB without having 100 posts first. And they even have some minimum number of posts to PM another member. I think as a buyer, the rules should be much more mellow because you always have to pay before the goods get shipped anyways.

Just my $0.02!  :thumb:

I think that a restriction would cut down on some of the problems with scammers but I don't think it would help with the majority or the issue.  Lazyness, Forgetfullness and just straight ripping people off would still happen.  Test the waters first, talk to the person selling the item, ask for an image of said item in its current condition as it is to be shipped when you buy it.  If you don't get a good vibe, don't buy whatever it is they are selling.  Also I choose payment methods that aren't as straght forward as cash/check, 'cause if you do get hooked then your just out.

It all boils down to BUYER BEWARE!!!

That being said I think things are good they way they are, the recent addition of trade feedback is enough if used like it is supposed to be.   If a restriction was to be inacted though I wouldn't think negatively about it.

Things are fine.  I have over 50,000 posts on various forums on the net and have bought and sold over $500,000 of items on forums and eBay.  Im seen scams happen and people get taken.  You gotta feel out whats going on, ask for references if you like, talk on the phone, weigh your options, etc etc.

I am a little leary of a new persons 1st post being a for sale post.I watch their post count and posts to see if they are actually interested in the GS.That usually signifies that they are a participating member and not a scammer. How ever some take the time to work the board.I recently had 2 pm's about wanting help or selling parts. They had 0 post count.I pm'd questions but received no response. So I just deleted the PM's.I should have brought it to a mod but wasn't thinking right.  :icon_rolleyes:

I replied on the other thread that is a spin off of this one.

Any way,I wouldn't buy from a low to no post count member. If they're not interested enough to ask questions and help when they can,I don't think they should recieve another members hard earned $$$.
