Here's one for sale on gstwin http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=42425.0

I know others have bought theirs online, so they'll probably chime in with where they got them. I bought my system off a member here a few years ago.

Seems that you are more concerned with what other people think about your bike... Maybe you should buy a Harley  :thumb:

You should be ashamed of yourself even mentioning that word Har@#$....What the heck does that have to do with it anyway????Of course I'm concerned what people think, If your not...U got a little problem I'd say...

i got  my yoshimura trs slip on from star cycle.....very fast shipping and very good value

here's the link for the yosh slip on

http://www.starcycle-usa.com/servlet/Detail?no=16164

and here's the link for the jardine full system

http://www.starcycle-usa.com/servlet/Detail?no=21113

i like the look and sound of the yosh the best, but i wish it came in a full system instead of a slip-on

mercman

Jardine looks like the winner!!!! like the stainless headers as my originals need a good sandblasting and ceramic coating....any chance u have a sound clip from any of these????

thx

ohgood

mercman, if you keep the stock exhaust, i could almost guarentee you'll never get a second look by a cop.

that is, unless you're  out doing whoolies or something.

most folks don't know the difference between a standard, cafe, cruiser, etc so don't let the looks worry you.

now if you really want to change how the gs sounds, there is the usual set of changes:

K&N filter (lunchbox)
jardine
Vance & Hines
OTHER stock pipe welded to fit

:)

Check'em out dis linky. http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Exhaust

Just remember that you will have to rejet when you upgrade your exhaust or the bike will not run correctly.

Go jardine, I got a vance and am relatively happy with it, but in retrospect, I should have forked out the extra few bucks and paid for the jardine system though.  Given, I got mine new from a dealer who is a friend for 275 for it shipped so I can't complain
GS500E with a bunch of cool stuff!

mercman

Yep, gonna go with the Jardine. Does anybody know how well the aluminum headers hold up???? Heat dissipation , and longevity ? 8)

??? ... Do you buy things you don't like just to please other people? If you are more concerned with what others think about what you own then its you w/ the problem. You need to be happy. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks EVER. If you buy and do things just so other people like it/you, you got some serious sociological problems.

That's why I mentioned the Harley crowd. Hang out w/ a few of em for a bit, you'll see what I mean. Ever see a Harley guy w/o a Harley t-shirt on? They need the self assurance of knowing that "everyone can see I own a Harley" therefore I am cool... NOT. In my book, if you don't establish your own self/identity then you are no one, you are just on the bandwagon with everyone else. Wear the clothes everyone else wears and do the things everyone else does and loose your own self in the madness... BE AN INDIVIDUAL! Think for yourself!

I wasn't trying to be a jerk... All im saying is... if YOU want to make changes to your bike, do it cause YOU want, not cause your friends think its cool. but if you are out to just impress everyone then, yes.. buy a Harley and some t-shirts so everyone with an HD will love you cause you are just like them.

Thx for the advice Dr. Frued....I was just trying to get a new exhaust, not a psych 1000 course. So I will just get the Jardine system and lose my individualism, I'm ok with that. Should I burn my Suzuki t- shirt also??

Teek

Scott is just sharing some good wisdom. I figured you were like 18 or something unti I checked your profile, no offense intended. I have sort of learned the hard way that if the only thing we learn in this life is to embrace everyone's individuality and honor our own, then we done good, and that's what he is trying to share. So whatever turns you on. No one is trying to tell you what to do.

Does the Vance & Hines still have to be dropped to change the oil, or is that just on some years? You can also go seach YouTube for videos and sound clips for GS and Vance & Hines or Jardine or Yoshimura, you'll get to hear a lot, and see how they look on the bike too before you spend the money. I did that for 3 months and now I'm really happy with my used Yoshimura RS3 that I got on fleabay that came off of a Ninja. It really also depends on what kind of jets and air filter are in there too though as mentioned above, because some of these bikes shown still sound like craaap, like the owner didn't do the jets or air filter. The lunchbox filter is the way to go for sound.
2001~ OEM Flyscreen & Chin spoiler, Fenderectomy, Sonic Springs, '05 Katana 600 Shock, Yoshimura RS-3 Carbon Fiber can, stainless midpipe, custom brake pedal, K&N Lunch box, Rejet, 14t sprocket, Diamond links, Iridium plugs, Metzeler Lasertecs, Hella horn, "CF" levers, Chuck's Fork brace. I'm broke!

I was informed that the V&H has to be dropped to gain clearance to remove the oil filter from the engine. Some people say no,some say just loosen the bolts and slide the header away from the engine a little, while others say it has to be completely unbolted.I think V&H looks at the GS like Suzuki did.Very loose tolerances during manufacturing.I think that's why they're so much cheaper compared to other systems for our type of bike. Not ragging on V&H,just my honest opinion.

Those are some good words of wisdom Ben, and I wish I was 18 again ... . I think Scott dug way to deep into my post. I was just wanting some ideas to make my GS the best it can be ...for my sake. And who doesnt mind having a head turned once in a while .Take pride in what you do,drive ,ride etc....Show your colors if u want...nothin wrong with that.

Everybody that posted here was very helpful with ideas leading to MY decision on the Jardine complete system.

Thx All

Well I'm 31 and I was responding to Teek about the need to drop(as in remove) the V&H system to change oil.I actually wasn't responding to you,but I agree with you on the Jardine system. It's higher quality and looks better.I don't understand why your harsh post toward me.I haven't given you any grief about what you're doing with your bike or your age.I don't pass judgement. I just try to provide accurate info.  :dunno_white:
