He talks about what the network gets paid for him to talk about.  If motorcycle companies and accessory manufacturers paid them nearly as mych as NASCAR, they would actually show motorcycles.  As long as Chevy, Ford, Home Depot, and the rest of the big name sponsors pay 90% of SPEED's bills, they will get 90% of the coverage.

Commentators read scripts, as do news anchors, Talk show hosts and actors.

they should just call it "NASCAR TV", funny thing is it been bs for many years. the sc in nascar meant "Stock Car" nothing remotely stock about that, and i cant really find that much to enjoy watching cars going in circles. some people can, for me, i am more into bikes and f1 than anything else. sorry about the mild thread hijacking there  :dunno:

What?  I see way more add's more motorcycles than anything but stupid speed racer on that channel.

Dave was hired to do a show about all racing in general.  You would think the people whining about him not doing motorcycles would have figured that out by now!  I was surprised about him defending NASCAR.  I remember him having a segment on the bad effects NASCAR has on the racing industry.  Sponsorship money is being taken away from other leagues and put towards NASCAR, which in some way partially responsible for the troubles CART has (other than mismanagement).  The popularity also hinders development of American drivers for the international series.

Between Fox, NBC, TNT, ESPN and Speed, there is more than enough NASCAR to make a single channel for stock car racing.  For god sakes, curling is more exciting than stock car racing... Dave can shut that spewing volcano he calls a mouth.  Millions and millions of people can be wrong!

It was a good rant, I'm sure it wasn't spontaneous though, so the editors would've known ahead of time it's coming. I would imagine any "live" broadcast (especially a phone-in one) would also have a slight delay to allow the editors to bleep things if necessary anyway.

As far as Speed showing too much NASCAR goes....I agree that it gets old...and it's even more boring than F1 used to be, but the truth is it's still a HELL of alot better than the motorcycle coverage I used to be able to get here...which was basically none. I'm just happy I actually get to SEE motoGP, SBK, and AMA races instead of only reading about them in magazines.  

The biggest thing that annoys me about that whole thing is that they still have to cram NASCAR down everybody's throat on what's supposedly "Two wheel tuesday"   All about the ratings I guess, and motorcycle racing will NEVER get better ratings than NASCAR in North America unfortunately. Just doesn't appeal to that World Wrestling Federation demographic I guess.   :dunno:

NASCAR is an oxymoron. It's popularity comes from its simplicity...Go Fast, Turn Left...what kind of competition is that? The only actually racing is in the pits anyway. I'm glad I don't have cable or satellite anymore.

I WOULD ACTUALLY CONSIDER WATCHING IT, IF FOR EVEN 1 RACE, THEY WENT BACK TO THE ROOTS OF IT. go to dealer buy car remove all but drivers seat and electronics, install roll cage,. stock cars/stock powerplants, hell throw in a few hondas toy's etc, and it would make it slightly interesting nascar is about as fake as the WWE is. :dunno:

That's whay the WWE and NASCAR share the same fan base.  "Soap operas for the toothless" as we say around here.

i swear, quite a few people around here (and in other locales), swear wrestling is real, i caught hell the other day, i put a dale jr. sticker on my car, with a piece of black tape across it. :mrgreen:

sounds good to me.  I'd watch that.  Even if they still only went in a circle.  the new GTO would clean up in a series like that.

I'm jealous! Wish we had more rally racing and motorcycle racing like we used to, especially GP bikes. Almost any auto racing is better than NASCRAP.

it would, cars are about the same size, powerplants are, if not close, the are similar, the whole mentality years ago in the beginning, was win on sunday, sell on monday. all nascar is now-a-days is rolling billboards. (turning left most of the time), what would make a race interesting is to run a race, halfway through, stop, turn the cars around, and go in the opposite direction without resetting the cars suspension set-up. forget about curling,  :dunno: i believe canada has nascars spawn/sibling, cascar, whodathunkit? ah well, i guess whatever sells the most is going to be on the tube...mihgt have to go to austrailia, nascar doesnt even rate...... :mrgreen:
