... I'm feeling lucky.

I parked my bike at school the other day for about 2.5 hours. I do this nearly every day, particularly when I'm late for class. What I love about the bike is I can slide into parallel slots that no-one except a Smartcar/Mini Cooper could. I always try to leave 3-4 feet on either side though, so someone doesn't thwack me. Stuck helmet in helmet lock (and did usual prayer to helmet gods that no one would want an HJC bad enough to slash my strap and run).

Came back later. Hard to turn key in ignition, helmet has scrapes on the top (it was on r. side of bike), and the end to my clutch lever was broken off. argghh. Remembered back to video, wondered if someone had tried to nic the bike. Nope. Idiot in front of me probably thwacked it backing out. Took off clutch end, gave fork a good whack, and scrapped up my poor helmet.

Now the handlebars are loose when the lock is activated. Is there any way to tighten this up again?

From here on out, I'm laying out cones...

park in a regular spot, or on the sidewalk where you can. people simply WILL NOT LOOK when reversing in parking lots. i watched a guy in a chevy 2500HD crew cab stop while reversing when he noticed a woman in a minivan reversing also. He was stopped, she slammed into his hitch. Looked like a good $3000-$5000 in damage to her van, maybe a scratch on his bumper. my phone's battery was dead, or I'd have gotten some ugly pictures for the 'web. ;)

people are dumb, be prepared.

I had a similar experience in Pacific Beach last month.  I got back to my bike and when I put my helmet on it felt funny, then I tried to start my bike but upon pulling in the clutch lever, I noticed it was no longer attached.  Somebody had knocked my bike over (breaking it's fall on my new helmet), and picked it back up.  I was a little angry that I hadn't just dropped it myself...I'd at least have somebody to be mad at.

Hey Dude, most schools these days have video cameras all over the place.Esp in parking lots...Talk to security and ask if there is one and if you could review the tapes with them.Never know you may be able to tag the Ahole that got you!  :thumb:
Well, either you're part of the problem, part of the solution,...
