turn signal help

i looked at all the turn signal threads and none of them are like my problem. so i bought a used gs a few days ago. the previous owner removed the turn signals (but gave them to me when i bought the bike). i temporarily attched them last night and tested them, they worked fine. then i accidentally drained the battery. i hooked up a charger last night. and now today when i re-connected the signals they don't work at all. i checked to see if i knocked any connections loose while re-attaching the seat but everything is fine. could i have somehow fried something while charging the battery? or is my problem something else.

Check the WIKI for a wiring diagram and check the wiring.There's not much in the signal circuit that can go bad.The switch,the flasher,bulb,that's about all that's there.

Did you disconnect the battery from the bike when you charged it?

do you have to do this if you put the battery on a trickle charger?

well first i removed the battery and started charging it. then i reinstalled it and put the trickle charger back on it with the battery attached.

The comment about frying the battery while charging it is what made me ask the question. I always disconnect it from the bike prior to charging then there is no chance of doing any damage but some people might say they have done it with no problems.
There is an easy way to test the indicator relay. You will find it behind the R/H side panel, pull the plug off and short together the orange and blue cables in the plug with a paperclip or something similar, then flick the switch from left to right.......if the front and back lights come on the relay is duff.

We've got two openings here in South Carolina. Know anything about Nuclear Medicine or MRI systems? But then again with the US$ falling, you might not be able to take the cut in pay!  :laugh:
