So I had two Ideas that would for one help the front suspention and second look cool and maybe sound badass.
My first is fork spacers with stock springs. I want to add spacers made of stock springs but the ends since they have the most resistance. I have been told to just add longer springs but what is the difference If I shorten the stock spacer and add a spring above the spacer and top nut that is stiffer than stock isnt that the same ass adding longer spring and a shorter spacer this is a crappy diagram
- = spacer   [ = spring
progressive springs
---[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[
my idea
[[[[--[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[
I see no difference besides the setup
Second is my idea of a new intake
looking more into my ram-air its not really going to be a forced induction the filter are sucking from the side and will be on the side of the bike the air is going around them, the only plus is cooler air(less heated air from the motor) how is this any different from being behind the motor?
another crappy diagram
Blue is cool air, green is air warmed by the motor heat

I don't think it could be done on a GS,buuuttttt I saw an old Triumph with the head turned around putting the carbs at the front. That's sure to get cool air plus anything the front wheel kicks up.  :dunno_white:

the carbs will still be behind just tubing routed the the front sides still keeping a cold air intake just mounted up front it wont be a forced induction

I imagine you would  and could be better off just buying a set of springs cut to the stock length, but made of linear wound and heavier wire stock.  I think Progressive sells custom cut springs or maybe Traxxion Dynamics.

thats my point I have to watch what I spend cause im a month away from having my baby so any DIY mods are better

Cutting springs without being squared and ground flat on the ends will cause them to rub or bind. Not a good idea.

If you are using the soft stock springs and adding more soft springs, you will only end up with soft springs.
Common sense in not very common.

I have one progressive spring that came in a fork leg I got. I am able to flatend and smooth both top and bottom it will be stiffer than the stock gs spring I even have some small springs at work that are stiffer than the stockers that will fit. so in theory I will have a soft midsection with a stiff upper and a small washer

the mole

Many years ago I had a problem with soft springs on a Yamaha trail bike, so I drilled through the fork caps and installed a tire valve stem (ripped out of an old tube) in each one. Then I could just pump in as much air as I needed. Obviously your fork seals have to be in good condition. Bit fiddly to adjust as you're dealing with a small volume above the oil in the fork. I even tried it for a while with no springs and just the air pressure, which worked really well, but felt happier with the springs in, in case a seal leaked.
Looking at my GS, you'd have trouble with the handlebars being in the way, but you could maybe use some hydraulic banjo fittings to run an air line to a remote valve, maybe link both forks so pressure is always equal.
Cheers, David.

Air pressure in forks are not used anymore for a very good reason. I had them back in the late 80's. Doubtful that the GS seals would last very long since they where not designed for increased air pressure.

Increasing the oil level will stiffen the forks, less air to compress.

Common sense in not very common.

I think that is the problem with my forks Dgyver.

ok so far the springs are great no bottoming out and all is good will do a longer ride tomarrow with a few good turns. today I took her up to PV and did some minor carving all is fine. I ended up using two 4.50 springs I had at work both top and bottom flat and smooth I put a spacer between the two springs and cut the stock spacer to 5.50 was a bit hard to close the cap but I managed. no to see about the intake
