So i went to my local stealer/parts dealer to get a new air filter. They did not have it in stock but could order it for $57! WTH is that the normal price?  I mean i could get a new lunchbox for that which id like to do, then id have to rejet tho =(

Looks like ill just order it online.  I dont see the benefit of a K&N if it has a restrictor.

Just got a K&N for mine...the stock price was $30, the K&N was $57.  With dealer discounts it came to $50 or so.  The restrictor is optional on the K&N, and is provided so that you don't absolutely have to rejet right away.  Restrictor or not, the K&N is nice in that you never have to replace it--just clean, oil and go.

So i can get a K&N lunchbox and not use the restrictor without causing it to run too lean and possibly burn up my motor?

PuddleJumper

If you use the lunchbox filter, You have to rejet.

K&N also makes a filter that fits like the factory filter. It has an optional restrictor because it flows better than a paper filter.

If you don't use the restrictor, you still have to rejet.

Be safe.

As puddlejumper said, lunchbox means rejet no matter what.  The filter I used is the K &N drop in, same size as stock.  I'm using the restrictor right now, but when I rejet, I'll rejet without the restrictor.

Hope that helps
