okay, this has been bothering me for a while now.

whenever it's below at least 60 outside, my bike will have the hardest time starting up. it's annoying the hell out of me, cause it'll mean I'll be stranded someplace, or stuck at home. :x

like tonight, I had to leave my bike at my sister's place and drive her car home.

the engine was turning over. battery sounded a tiny bit weak. I tried push starting and it wouldn't work.

I think it might be something electrical, but I really don't have anything to go on. :dunno:

any ideas anyone?

check your battery fluids, and give it a deep charge after that.

you can always jump start the bike with a car, just make sure the car isnt running when you do so.

so you think a weak battery is the culprit?

Most definetely... unless it cranks over a lot and doesn't start or stay running... then its lean jetting.

Rejetted... using a kit... then its most definetely lean. If you jetted it with more of a feel and seat of the pants approach and assuming you know and have been patient with it... then... well if you jetted in summer... it could be lean when it gets cold. I personally like to test my jetting on the most pathetically coldest day of the year. If it behaves on that day... namely starting, holding idle and in general not creating a fuss... its fine.

Out of curiosity, how many turns out on the idle screw can you go out before one should consider switching to the next highest jet?  I currently have the 40's installed (3turns out) and also have cold starting problems.
