So i could use some suggestions to some aftermarket mirrors. I got an '01 GS500 with the hideous stock mirrors. looking for something nicer, pref lower profile (maybe bar end ones). Wondering what you guys would recommend, links and pics appreciated, thanks in advance =)

those work for me. were they easy to install? as in didn't require any major disassembling of grips or anything like that.

You just need to buy the correct ones LOL.  I bought mirrors for 7/8" bars.  They come with an insert you put into the end of the bars and then crank down a bolt and it expands to hold in place, then clamp the mirrors on. Some of our bars also have inserts for the bar end weights to screw into. What I did was turn down the diameter of the bar ends to about 7/8" and then clamp the mirrors to that, but u could just get some 1 1/8" (I think thats the right size) and they would clamp right to the bar end weights, or if you dont have those onto the end of the bars.

A couple other people had a few different ways of mounting them as well.

I can't imagine being able to see behind you to well with something so small. They look real good, but they don't seem to practical.

Got these off ebay for $14 pair.

PICS are GONE never TO return.

get some convex mirrors. I don't know if the GS500 has them stock, but they're so much better than flat mirrors, unless of course you like looking at your shoulders. That itself limits your choices

Mine(pictured above) are wider than stock, lower profile, and don't stick out past my clip ons.So if I drop my bike it's less likely that I will break  a mirror.

Um ya....... I see perfect with them - 0 vibration and Im not looking at my shoulders like you do with the stock mirrors if you are bigger than a 12 year old.

I had something very similar to this on my old Maxim after I replaced the crusier style bar with a flatter bar.

I'm thinking of ordering a pair to see if I can convert the mount to work with the stock bar on my '90, with its screw for the bar-end weights, or if I'd actually have to get a replacement bar with open ends to do that. You can position them above or below the bar, and in or out.

I have those napoleans on my bike - give it a classic retro euro look , and provides good rear view.  BUT i much prefer the look of the round bar end mirrors.  When i find some decent looking non-convex bicycle mirrors i'll go with those.
