Clouds before my eyes...

The weather is getting kinda chilly and I was wondering if anyone has got good tips to keep the amount of fogging down.  Whether it be helmet vent settings, stuff applied to the faceshield, or other tips.

Personally, I have a Shoei Z-II, wear glasses, and have the little blocker breath guard that goes right over the nose installed.  I found that if I shut the mouth inlets, it keeps the cold air from chilling my glasses and fogging.  I was having a beast of a time before I did this, thinking that the air flow would clear out any moisture from my breath.  :dunno:

I have a Shoei RF800 and also wear glasses. I always had problems with my visor fogging in cold weather, so I bought one of those breath guards you mentioned. That actually made it worse for me because instead of my visor fogging, my glasses themselves were fogging.  :o  I was pretty quick to get rid of that!

Then I tried a sample from a tiny bottle of some super-expensive anti-fog goo at the bike shop. Practically the instant I walked outside my visor fogged.  :?

One thing I've found that works is to leave the visor open just a crack if it's not so cold that you can't stand it. Another thing I do is make a conscious effort to breathe out through my mouth in such a way that my breath is directed downward. It's weird at first, but not too bad once you get used to it...and it does seem to help, for me anyway.

I put the breath guard in during the warmer months... it worked then, but now while it's cold, might not be such a good idea.
One really does need to watch it while breathing through the mouth.  *grin* Don't be a mouth breather!

I use a 'fog city' insert - a kind of double glazing for vizors that sticks on the inside.  Really works well.

You can try smearing some dish soap inside your visor and glasses and see if that helps.

I use a Progrip light sensitive fog screen. It's the first thing I buy when I buy a new helmet, and it's the best investment of $15 in gear I have. It's similar to the fgo city, but, IMO, of better quality for the same price. It doesn't have as much refraction as the fog city, and it becomes of a light red/amber color so it screens some of the glare from the sun too.

this might sound odd, but it works on my bathroom mirror. try smearing the visor with shaving cream.  rub it in until it disappears.

Yeah, the specs and visor combination can be interesting, we've all sneezed and had total fog-out eh? I found the best way way leave the visor open a half inch but in cold and/or wet this can be a drag. Now I've aquired a decent screen I find I can leave the visor open a fair bit with no problems.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??
