A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and
bizarre this afternoon. County commissioners were discussing problems
with the central collections office that is used to process traffic
ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP
Courts.
       
       
        Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that
        central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork
        reportedly has become lost in the office. Commissioner John
        Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud "Excuse
        me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has
        become a "white hole."
       
        That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an
        apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.
        Mayfield shot back that it was a figure of speech and a science
        term. A black hole, according to Webster's, is perhaps "the
        invisible remains of a collapsed star, with an intense
        gravitational field from which neither light nor matter can
        escape." Other county officials quickly interceded to break it
        up and get the meeting back on track. TV news cameras were
        rolling, after all.

Yeah, I heard about this on the radio this morning.  Stupid people and power do not mix well at all.  It infuriates me some of the shaZam! I hear.  Have you heard the audio from the meeting?  It's like a circus!  People whooping and hollering over something so ignorant and minuscule.  How can such an innocent comment be construed as a racist comment?  Obviously the people who were offended by the remark have either never been to any kind of school/watched television or they are just race baiters.  Here's a television interview with JWP on the matter:

That is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen and/or heard.  

What's even scarier is a JUDGE asking for an apology over the use of the term.   How can a judge not be educated/smart enough to try to gently diffuse this situation instead of wanting a public apology?  Amazing.

i concur i dont care what color your skin is  nobody should have to modify their speech to satisfy the 1 person in the room who would get offended if you say ordered your coffie black or commented on a nice pair of black shoes a black tie.  now i could see that guy getting offended if he used

A white Anglo-Scottish comedian over here with a bit of a reputation once said "I have been acused of being rascist, not by black people but by white people who think I offend black people, no black person to my knowledge has accused me of racism only these pc white people - Oh Hell, I hate white people"

This pisses me off so much, it's completely one sided. If a black person construes something as racist, it's all over the news. I hear racism in the other direction all the time, no news exposure for that. It's a double standard, ridiculous.
