Exhaust Question

Okay, haven't really posted (once or twice), but have been scouting for a coupla months now.  Had a quick exhaust question, if this is ridiculous, please excuse my noobiness.  What I want to do is completely do away with the exhaust can, cut the rear bend out of the exhaust tubing and weld up a turn down instead.  Noise isn't really a factor here (unless it would be extrordinarily, outragiously loud) but how would this effect back flow? Would it burn my valves up? Would I need to rejet? And last but not least, am I looking at a drop in torque/power?  Any advice would be mucho helpful.  From reading some of the threads, you guys seem to know your s..t, so help me out, yeah?

Rejet will be required.I have a D&D exhaust and I can not start my bike inside my building.It is defining.I read another post were the torque did suffer some.How much?I dunno.Burnt valves are usually caused by header leaks at the head,lean jetted carbs,and low/no back pressure.If you're going after the Harley sound,it ain't happening.HD is like a 30* V twin the GS is an inline twin.Plus the GS has to idle to high to stay running to get the lope sound a V twin makes.With a restrictive stock air filter and a rejet it may still run lean.Opening the intake side up will help with this.

Not really after the hd sound. I'll fire the old electra glide up if I want the lope.  Im just really more into the "sleekness" of the turndowns than the full exhaust. So *if* I do this, basically I should rejet and put a lunchbox in? Mucho gracias for the help.
