So after months of working on my sister's bike and finally getting it running right and roadworthy, I found out that she lost the title.
Bought the bike with rod knock and a bent rear wheel.  I replaced the motor, carbs, wheel and tank.  She never got it registered or titled so she has no way of even getting a replacement title.


So, I'm either looking for a replacement frame w/title (for CHEAP) or I'm parting this bike out.

Carbs are clean and working great now.  I'm waiting on a set of o-rings from Buddah.
Engine is from an 89 and I am not sure of the milage.  I also have an engine from an 04 with around 4000 miles on it.
tank (blue) is from an 04 and has a couple of chips on that side that, I think, end up hidden by the seat but I'm not sure.
Wheels are straight, brakes are good, tail section and fender are good (teal color), seat has a couple of tears in it, new chain, harness is good and not hacked.

I never thought of that.  That's a good idea.  I actually know a bunch of guys on the job.  I'll ask one of them next time I see them, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yeah, before you bail on it, check your state DMV, there is a process for dealing with a lost or missing title on a bike, a long as it's not reported stolen, you should be able to make it legal.

If you do go through with parting it out, I'd be interested in the wheels and rotors as rain spares for my race GS.

No luck with the title so I'm parting it out.

If the title was in your sisters name, all you have to do is go to the dmv and get a form for a lost title. 65 bucks and she gets a duplicate title.

Bike was never in her name....

i have a 95 w/ title   two  engines one a 95 one a 92  95 bent and broken puch rod, 92 everything looks fine but locked up took jugs off and still seized
