alright..I came back from my camping trip yesterday and close to home I rode thru a hail storm and heavy rain. What an experience (a good one). Anyways it lasted for about 20 minutes. The bike rode fine thru the storm and I parked her in the garage when I got home .

Today I started her up and she had a rough idle. I adjusted the idle screw and choke cable. She still idle rough but she idles. I let her warm up. Riding her she surges in 1st and 2nd. Did not take her to 3rd. It's seems like she's firing on a single cylinder. I'm thinking water got in somewhere.

So before I take her apart to look...has anyone expereince this or a have a guess on why this happened?

K&N lunch box ?? Maybe take it off and shake it dry and let it sun dry a bit more. Its quite susceptible to water, but will usually affect both cyls - cos its one large box for both carbs.
Cool.

I got individual pods for each intake so maybe one got more wet than the other?

Alright, I pulled the K&N pods out they seem to be dry. Don't know if they got dried out overnight or what. Changed the oil and oil filter. Then pulled the plugs and they are FOULED. Looks like I'm running rich. Carbs where recently cleaned, rejetted 150 jets, 40 pilots, 1 washer lift and 3 turns, new float retaining O rings and seat O rings all done by Buddha. Bike ran strong and idle perfectly around 1100 rpm before I rode thru the rain storm.

Any suggestions on how I can make her run a little less rich or is this common. I've put over 500 miles on here since changing to these Iridium NGK's. I probably will giver her some new plugs when I put her back together.

Left plug left cylinder, right plug right cylinder.

Dry the filters and ride it and then read plugs. Water will intervene with air flow and water will mess up plug reading. I'd really not jet it with water in the filters. You may be rich, but re do it dry.

How long should I ride it with new plugs before I should take it out to check?

The Buddha

Clean these plugs with a tootbrush and run them. No need for new plugs. But they get the color very quick. 10 mins is plenty.

Alright clean up the k&n pods with some cleaner and reoiled. Changed oil and filter. Thru in some NGK stock plugs I had which were fairly new..only used for about a hundred miles before I switched to iridiums. Adjusted the choke lever. She fired up right away and after about 5 minutes I adjusted the idle to ~1000 rpms. She stayed there perfectly idle. I let her idle for about 18 minutes. Revved her a few times and eveything seemed to be back to normal. I think water must have gotten thru the air filter thus less air, more gas and fouling the plugs. Or for some reason the plugs got really fouled. I have not ridden her yet..will do that tommorow.

But here are what the plugs look like after 18 minutes of idling...
