 I was going around an unfamiliar onramp to an interstate the other night and hit a gravel patch while turning, the bike tire started wobbling and i managed to straighten up and start slowing down, but ran out of road and dumped her off the side of the road into dirt and gravel.  Two of my friends were riding behind me, said we were going about 70 mph, but slowed to 50 - 60 before i wrecked, they said i ragdoll'ed in the air a couple times and the bike flipped a couple times as well, i was in all my gear and popped right up (ankle sprain, that's it), and scrathed my brand new icon helmet, but could be alot worse, if i had dumped on concrete i would probably be in traction for my ankle. Bike is suprisingly not bad, i managed to ride it home, started right up. These GS's are strong, i thought the bike was going to be totalled when i first got up, but only the back left fairing was crushed, small tank dent from the clip-on, and scratches on the front left fairing, as well as broken mirror. All cosmetic stuff, i fixed the front fender already and now is the excuse to buy an R1 tail, already purchased from ebay, can't wait! One question though, my speedo lights are out, all the wires are connected, is there a seperate fuse located somewhere for these lights? Chef

Sorry to hear about your fall, but glad to hear that you are still around, and not hurt too badly.

Do you think a brighter light would have allowed you to see the gravel earlier, or was it something that was unavoidable?

Heal up well, and post pics of your progress.   :o
I love it when a plan comes together.

Good thing for gear! Were you going above the speed limit? All details help. I sprained the ankle just by laying it down at a stop. Forgot my boots that morning! It is still a little tough standing all day! Were you wearing boots?

yeah, I'm going to guess that the ramp suggested speed was something significantly lower than 70.

Glad you're ok!

In the future, assume all corners have gravel on them and a truck tire in the middle until you see for sure otherwise.

+1 to that, or an over-fuelled bus just dumped a gallon of diesel on the apex! Been there, done that :o
