I replaced my gauge cluster lights yesterday and I think it looks much better.  It wasnt as hard as I thought it was going to be.  I work at Advance Auto Parts and the bulbs actually got discontinued, I think I payed $4.95 for them.  If you find a store that discounts their discontinued items you can get it for 75% off of that even.  It takes a very common bulb (194) and we actually have 2 different blue ones that were discontinued.  One of them is LED and one wasnt.  I tried the standard blue bulb first and it wasnt bright enough.  I am sure most of you already know what bulb it takes.  I thought maybe some of you would like to know they were marked down at Advance and see what they looked like in the bike.  Here are pics of my bike with the blue led and my buddies bike before we changed his.

No soldering involved.  It was actually pretty easy. You take the 2 nuts off that hold the gauge cluster on and the speedometer cable loose.  Flip the cluster over and there are 2 nuts on the back of each gauge. Once you remove those the tach will come right out The bulb housing just pulls out the back of the tach and the bulb just pulls right out of it.  The speedometer is a little harder.  The little thumbwheel to reset your trip miles keeps it from coming right out when you remove the 2 nuts.  But all you have to do is remove the three little philliphead screws on the back of the cluster housing, it will seperate into 2 pieces and the the speedo gauge will come out then.  Bulb change is the same.  Putting it back together is a little harder.  There is a sleeve and a washer and a little wire holder that come off the bolts that hold the cluster to the bike.  That was kinda tricky but I put a little grease on the sleeves to hold them in the rubber grommets.  That held them still and made it a little easier.  I did 2 bikes last night.  My bike and my buddies.  I did mine myself and we did his and it was definatley easier with an extra set of hands.  We did his in about 20 min

lmao, i did it yesterday too and also work for advance. i had to call the ccc cause the pop signs didnt match what was ringing up. it tool them a day to fix it.

I didnt bother, I just payed what it rang up.  We take 75% off discontinued anyways so it didnt matter much. 

ya we do too if it ends in 5 but it rings up as a 'sale price' so i told my guys not to do it lol. too many managers in my area are getting in trouble with the 75% items.
