Hey to all, new to this forum and to bikes in general and this seems to be a great forum after lurking around for a while.  Never really planned on getting into bikes but gas prices and a buddy wanting to get rid of a GS for real cheap just kinda got me intrigued.  It's a 98 gs500e and was in pretty rough shape when I got it.  It was the factory orange and my buddy had shaped a rear fender for it and chopped the rear.  I've done the following so far..

finished covering seat
made mount for cateye tail and plate
removed signals
lots of cleaning
chopped rear pegs/mounts off, put rear pegs up front
bikemaster superbike bars (after reading here seems to be the best option)
lots and lots of spraypaint
homebrew fork spacers
lots of cleaning

He says it has a dynojet jet kit on it and the exhaust has been shortened, gutted and has a nice turndown, I'll get some better pics later.  Almost a month of riding now and I'm loving it, I've ridden a lot of different bikes and this one is so easy to throw around in the twisties compared to others, its ridiculous.  All I have is my cell cam at the moment so these two will have to do. Good to be here!

Congrats on the new bike.  I love the look of it.  Kinda looks like mine in a few ways.

that's one of more original chop jobs I've seen.  I agree Superbike bars are best....just put mine on yesterday!
Attack but have a back up plan

Looks good dude! The seat is killer. I would cut down the black piece on the side though to flow better with the frame..

im really liking the work so far, 'cept for teh seat cover at teh very rear. in my opinion, needs a hair more of an upward sweep , but still VERY nice work, btw i second a detailed write-up, and step-by-step pics if at all possible

Thanks for the kind words, on the truck too.  No pics of how the rear was made but it was done with sheet steel on an english wheel, it wasn't easy for him to do.  He did the basic shape of it and riveted it to the plastic seat frame then I trimmed it up to where it is now

I cut them down as much as possible while still covering electronic parts on the right side..but I agree.... if I could move all the wiring and stuff it would look better.

I'll snap some soon, it's proving to be a little loud for me so I'll probably end up wit a Yoshi or something soon.

If you decide to get a diff exhaust, I may be interested in buying that one.

Edit: Never mind, it wont fit without modding.
