Hey Everyone,

I just want to confirm something. 97-98 Honda CBR1100xx and 98-02 CB600 Hornet Tail Lights are the same as the ones on the GS500F, correct?
Does anyone know if the wiring plug is also the same?

Thanks for any info!

I don't see how OEM Honda parts would be the same as OEM Suzuki ??? They may be similar, but surely not the same.

I just looked at one on ebay and to me the tail light looks like its a tail light out of a gs500f and its almost 30 bucks cheaper with the integrated turn signals in it

Exactly why I was asking.  The Clear Alternatives Website (company that makes integrated tailights) shows the same part number for the CBR1100xx, as the GS500F. However, the CBR1100xx tailight is $30-40 cheaper.

If they are both, say, being made by Stanley (IIRC the name on my E model tail-light) they surely could be.

Despite all sorts of brand-loyalty foolishness involving which they'd rather push than drive, you can swap tailgates and gas caps between ford and chevy pickups of some years. The locking caps on my ford were on my chevy, and I moved them over. I see no reason why honda, yamaha, and suzuki might not have interchangeable parts made by Nippondenso, Stanley, or others.

As a sidenote, I am using a set and a half of GS500 coils on my old Kawasaki KH400 triple, and they are great. I got all 3 for about $20 on Ebay. The genuine parts go for 3 or 4 times that.

I also have a mirror from a Suzuki Cavalcade or Madura, or some cruiser thingie made by Suzuki on my GS.

Anybody else know what you can interchange from other bikes?

Heck, mirrors - all (or virtually all)  Japanese (bar-type, not fairing) mirrors except Yamaha LH are the same 10MM thread. Yamaha LH are the same thread in LH so they will tighten as the wind blows. We can get YamaHondaKawaZuki a yamaha right and a honda or kawasaki left, and then he'd just need one part from the other (perhaps a clutch lever & perch?) to have a bike that matches his handle.

You can gain some sense of the universality of some other parts on websites (such as dennis kirk, IIRC) that let you see "what other bikes this part fits", though that will only be the "official" fitment set, and some will fit an even wider range of bikes. Wheel bearings and steering stem bearings are one area where a few bearings fit many bikes. The progressive springs for "our" bikes are also for many other bikes with the same size forks. Brake discs. Probably calipers.

well.... somehow i think the found out. I just went on a goose chase here is the list, so far
99-06 vlx dlx
97-98 cbr1100xx
98-02 hornet 600
00-05 shadow vlx
87-07 shadow spirit 1100
and of course our gs but on the clear alt webpage all of the integrated led tails for these bikes are 119.... looks like they caught on   :icon_rolleyes: I did find them on ebay for 89 plus 10 shipping but the one linked above is not made by clear alternatives and though it is marked dot and better in that regard, not sure that i like the fewer amount of leds and the fact that you can see the board clearly
