so what is your mileage or kmage or whatever they call it.  our tank holds 20 liters or 5.3 gallons.   but i have been lazy and have not looked into what i get.  i "fill up" once i hit 100 miles on my odometer.  i know that i am not going to run out of gas at that period but i just don't chance it because with my health i can not be stranded or push/pull start it.  so how many miles on your tip odo do you guys get on average before you have to switch over?   if i was getting 40mph then i should be able to go 120-160miles before i need to go to my reserve.  actually i don't remember what the reserve limit is.  god my memory is getting horrible.   i don't ride redline anymore, mostly because of being older, wiser, poorer and not sure when my body will go south on me.   so please let me know what you guys get/think

I get up to 150 until i have to switch to reserve.  I dont think my tank is that big thouhg.. i have an 08.  I ride using the highway most times and going 60-80.  So i think thats pretty good.

i have a 04 and i thought from that point on the bike remained unchanged so i may be wrong about the 5.3 gal tank

I get 165 miles per tank on a '92.  That includes warming it up 2-3 times a day for a few minutes.  I'm jetted with 15 tooth sprocket, Bob B. ignition advance, Wileyco pipe, and I ride at least 100mph+ for a few miles up a steeper grade stretch of highway every night. 

My riding consists of a 27 mile highway shot to and from work. My bike seems to average 58mpg after 1800 miles. My low tank (a lot of learning idle in a parking lot) was 55 and I have had a couple tanks of 63mpg/ and 65mpg. Basically I have to switch to reserve (starts surging and sputtering) around 210-225 miles. Bear in mind the reserve will take you another 50 miles or so, so there you go.

Reserve is 1.3 gallons. I have an 07

Mostly puttering around town, I get 50-ish. Haven't looked inside the carbs yet, stock airbox, stock gearing, stock exhaust chopped open (PO) and re-restricted (me). Haven't really taken it out for a long haul since I am still resolving some PO issues.

When you fill up at 100 miles, does it take under $10? if so, you're getting 40 to 50 at prevailing NE-USA prices. Or just look at the actual gallons and miles, the math is pretty simple, especially with a computer in front of you (has calculator program, will be happy to divide miles by gallons.)

My '06 gets 4.1 litres/100km, about 320 km to reserve and I ride at a steady 110 km/h for my commute.
That's roughly 60mpg (US), 200 miles, 70mph.

Or 1.17 gals/hour at 61 knots.

I'm averaging 37 mpg.  Short trips mostly.

I haven't checked my mileage in a while, but the few times I have checked it, I was getting around 58.  I'll have to check it again with the tank I'm on now--I'm sure my riding style has gotten a bit more aggressive with a few months under my belt.  You should be able to run at least 150 miles or so before switching to reserve--and that's with my older smaller tank.  I just get annoyed with the process of trying to actually FILL the tank.  I have a hard time finding a fuel pump that'll let me SLOWLY trickle in that last half gallon.

Depending on driving habits for the day I hit reserve between 170 and 210 miles average driving 50 to 52 miles per gallon, 07 stock everything. but about to change that.
