alright after waiting for about two weeks i finally got the carb intake boots. put everything together. ran like crap. plugs black as can be. didnt know wheather it was the custom exhaust that i made or not so i cut it off. a little better and alot louder. okay trying to figure things out i take the stuff back apart find the diaphramn for  the needle not seated properly. ok so got the float level set right, fixed the diaphram and removed the washer under needle. bam thing runs beautiful...so checked the new set of plugs i installed and they were a little to lean. put the washer back and took it for a ride. thing wonk start from a stop with out reving it up. bogs until about 2-3k and then wow here comes the power. so i needed to find out why the lag/ bog. so here i am.. i had removed the washer again so i could go out riding. was on the freeway doing good and sputter..pop.pop.sputter. this just after about a 90-100 mph sprint. thought i was out of gas so i pushed it about 3/4 of a mile to the nearest exit. mind you it is night at about 9:30. get to the gas station to filler up and look in the tank. plenty of gas. try to start it back up and it fires right up. is it possible that i overheated it by  it being to lean? pulled the plugs when i got home and they are white with a little brown on the electrode. looked and nothing looked melted? does the gs have a saftey to keep you from over heating and meltin gs down. also where does the #4 washer go? under the white spacer(not the spring perch) or between the spacer and the clip? im lost and want to just ride this thing. just incase someone asked im 110% sure the fuel hoses are right, and i have modded the frame mounted petcock to not use the vaccuum hose and pluged off the port ont he carb. sorry so long wanted to make sure that i covered everything. o yea jets are 40,150, 1 washer, and three turns!!    thanks to all that will help!! TIA

2-3K is a requirement to get a GS running. Taking off under that is impossible.
You have a tank vent issue ??? sounds like you may have air locked the fuel flow.
Washer goes either just under the E clip or below the plastic spacer under the e clip.
Sorry I was in atlanta whole of today.
You need that washer for the higher throttle openings. 2-3K needs to be adjusted with air screw. You have it at 3, you should try 2.5. If your present issue (other than running out of gas when there was plenty) is that its 2-3 K is bad, try that 2.5.
You kave lunch box K&N instead of the airbox and a pipe right ? Oh, cut off headers isn't that good for low end either. A muffler and bit of back pressure will help that as well.
Cool.

i put it in the first post, 40,150, 1 washer, 2.5 turns right now.  alright buddha the reason i asked is if the washer is under the white spacer then the washer doesnt go through the hole and keeps the needle up almost a 1/4 inch. now with the washer under the clip it holds it up but not as much ya know what i mean. low end power is great with no washer or washer under clip but under plastic thing i is just horrible. sounds like i dont know how to drive a bike when i start off. exhaust is cut off after the 2-1 collector under the stand. thanks for the help! :thumb:

Washer and white spacer are a very snug fit on the needle where the writing is. So you may have to gently push it over ... too much and you'd knock the e clip out ... so careful.
Yamahon - I think he bought some from me a few weeks ago. I dont quite remember his name, so not sure.

i should probably take pictures to help everyone understand. but. the little pocket that is in the slide, where the white spacer sits on a stock carb is too small for the washer to fit through. so with the washer under the spacer it is the spacer thickness higher because it no longer sits in the pocket. and yes boiught the jets and misc other stuff from buddha
