arrgh, the PO dropped my bike and tore up the signal generator cover and crankcase cover,   I replaced them tonight and discovered that the PO patched the cracks w/ jb weld, which broke free and spun around in my signal generator area, shearing the pin off the end of the crank that indexes the signal generator.    I've been riding it that way for months now no mercy.   I just lined up the slots and whacked it back on, working fine.   Wonder if this threw my timing off enough to account for the low end mileage of 37-45 mpg.
