To me it looks like an  m16-a4 with colapsable butt stock and nice optics.  The Barrel looks to be a bit heavier and possibly better match grade than stock m16-a4 barrel.  The R.I.S. on the upper gave it away for me.  But id like to know the brand, its obviously a civilian version of the m16-a4.

No wheelie or speeding ticket has ever resulted in my name and federal prosecutor being mentioned at the same time, besides that's what track days are for. :thumb:

Most casualties in the next big war will be inflicted by using nuclear or biological weapons. So conventional arms will play very little role in your survival (unless you are a soldier in a military combat of course). Having more than a pistol for self/family defense in personal possession is beyond me.

If someone attacks me or a member of my family or my friend, their life is mine to take. They forfeit their rights when they behave like barbarians, including their right to live.

And you need a machine gun for that? Whew!..  Automatic machine weapons are called "assault weapons" for a reason. Have you seen a movie "Felon"? There is very limited legalhe guygrounds for self defense as it turns out. If you cross that boundary it is going to get ugly. Great movie to watch on the sudject. And the guy had a baseball bat not an automatic assault riffle to "defend his family"...

You might need to research states statistics related to CCW holders use of lethal force in states that have shall issue policies and states with castle doctrine and make my stand laws. The instance you highlight in the movie "Felon" represents less than 1% of actual lethal force incidents. Over 98% of all uses of lethal force never go beyond the DA's investigation and charges are not filed thus it never appears as a court case. Get out of the NE and tour the country a little bit if your not to terrified of red states and people like me walking amongst the masses with a gun you'll never know about until it comes time to defend myself, which could coincedntally stop someone on a rampage from killing unchecked.

I love holllywoods fictional attempts to convince us defending our selves is wrong :thumb:

Of course it's a movie so I am gonna belive everything about it.

Courts and police departments recognize and have acknowledged that they can not defend an individual from harm no matter how proactive they are, in cases of violent assault they can only respond after the fact and investigate. But hey your family can take comfort that you died for an ideal.

Needless to say I would much rather take my chances with a jury of 12 if it ever gets to that point rather than be carried by 6.

One of our shooting forum members is a pistol and hand to hand comnbat instructor, police officer and Juris Doctorate with my cities PD. You'd be amazed at the number of self defense cases which never come to public light because it isn't news worthy for an anti gun biased media to highlight the success of individuals ability to defend themselves.

"The Criminal Paradigm
Wednesday, 07 July 2004
By Michael Brown

Let's look at who your opponent(s) is:

Criminals in modern society who will victimize individuals as opposed to simply taking their property fall into a suprisingly narrow paradigm. This does not include personalities like serial killers or the mentally/emotionally disturbed.

Male.
Young, usually late teens to late twenties.
Raised in and accustomed to violent culture.
Unaware of, or undisturbed by, consequences.
Usually armed in some fashion.
Works and travels in groups regularly.
Physically at his peak.
Personally experienced in criminal behavior.
Predatory by nature.
Relishes personal conflict and conquest.

A pretty disturbing picture if you ask me.

Let's look at ourselves as their opponent.

1) Probably male with some exceptions.
Older or middle-aged.
Raised in responsible culture.
Very aware of and deterred by consequences.
Possibly armed.
Usually travel with family who are dependants not allies in a struggle.
Past our physical peak at best. In horrible condition at worst.
Likely very little personal experience with criminal behavior.
Affable and helpful by nature and choice.
Dislikes and avoids personal conflict.

With that in mind, how do we stand a chance?

By training harder than they do. Are you really? If you aren't how do you expect to prevail?

"Train more than you sleep." Mas Oyama

As a police officer, I live for the days when I can be the one to stand between you and violent crime. Its why I took this job.

As a realist, I can tell you that I won't be there and the only one who will be there for you is YOU. You are the only one responsible for your own safety. Nothing will feel worse than you or your family being victimized and you not being able to do anything about it because you didn't prepare effectively.

Are you really preparing for it?

Don't wait. Make a concious decision to start right now.

All good points. I am not arguing, and I was not. If you re-read my initial reply what I indirectly said is I understand having a pistol to protect yourself/family. I do not understand having a machine gun as a "tool of choice". That's it.

And I am all for self-defence. But unless you are dealing with criminals/"situations" every day (being on the force and such) an average Joe living in a good neighborhood and having an established daily routine (job->kids pickup->shopping->home) has statistically not a huge chance to be violently victimized. So to me it does not make sense to live in a stress of "being prepared" every second of my life. It leads to paranoidal conditions in humans, i.e. waiting for something bad to happen, suspitios to every passer-by and otherwise being stiff as a board.

And if a "bad guy day" happens outside of your house, i.e. not within the reach of your firearms safe, you are as bare handed as any of us.

All IMHO, so please no flames. We all are free to choose our way of thinking and way of living. I respect everybody's.

PS And the movie I mentioned has an example of a mis-judgement and over-reaction with unintended consequencies. So one's sarcasm would be better used somewhere else.

Nope not out of range a firearm, thats the beauty of CCW permits. Every state I travel in Honors my states permit as well.

Machine guns are play toy's. But if it was the only thing in reach well it might just be what gets used, items like that are safe queens, I have thought about doing a NFA permit for a short barrel shotgun, a little 12" pump action persuader would be just the ticket.

Pistols are nice, but you have to shoot a lot to be any good with one- if home defense is what one wants a gun for, a shotgun is what one should be buying. point and shoot. Besides, the sound of a shotgun getting racked on the other side of a door in the international sound of f%$k-off.
