do different exhaust affect the time it takes a bike to warm up and idle properly?

When my bike was stock I would start up the bike on medium choke and after 1-2 minutes it would idle fine on choke off. But after I converted her to an under belly exhaust with free flowing pipes I would start her on medium choke around 1500 rpm and would ride for about 10-15 minutes before I could turn off choke whereupon she would idle around 850. But if i shut off choke before that she would just bog down and die.

Can't really speak to aftermarket exhaust, but I only leave mine on choke for maybey 30 seconds and it idles just fine at 1100-1200rpm (spec) I basically let it idle long enough to put on my helmet and gloves and make sure if I rev the throttle it dosen't sputter and then I go. You may need some maintinence, and to reset your idle speed if it's down around 850.

When I put on the Jardine full system my GS would warm up in about 2 minutes and be ready to ride off. Damn I love that exhaust system  :thumb:

I have rejetted, 150/40 1 washer and 3 turns. I was incorrect in the idle rpm. She idles perfectly at 1200 but it just takes her a while to get there.

Open the air screw 1/2 turn.
How is it up high ... and the longer pipe with the bolt at the foot peg can keep it from leaking at the exhaust gasket. You should prolly check that periodically in yours.
Cool.

Exhaust gasket looks fine. No leakage. What do you mean how's it up high (rpm?)? I will adjust the air screw to se if it helps.

Higher throttle openings ... if you're lean higher up, then your pipe flows more than any of the regular slip on or full systems. You may have to kick it up a notch on the mains.
Might as well do all your problems in 1 sweep instead of fix 1 here and have problem there and then try to fix that there ...
Cool.

This worked! After the 1/2 turn on each side. I started her up on half choke. After 15 seconds, choke was off, adjusted idle screw. Let her run for another 8 minutes and adjusted the idle screw again to about 1100.

Next day started her up with half choke. Turn off choke after 15 seconds and she purred around 900, After about 5 minutes of riding she idle perfectly at 1100.  She runs strong and consistent thru the powerband.  :thumb:
