OK here is the deal i got the Lunchbox on the bike and its jetted 40/150 with 1 washer and 3 Turns. so i went to order the Jardine pipes to get it all done

well..........

its going to be another 4 weeks till a production run is going to be made of Jardine exhaust and everyone is out of them and so is the wearhouses (same story from 4 place guessing its legit)

the guy said (were i ordered) called to tell me that hes out of them but has a box thats missing the muffler.

and would sell me them for about half price (170 shipped)

but that still leaves me with out a muffler

i would REALY like a RS3 but they are kinda pricey the budget was 375 and its going to go over with that muffler PLUS yoshi only lists them as bolt ons the don't seem to make a true slip on anymore so not sure how fitment is realy going to work

i could buy a TRS that is for a later model GS500 and the pipe diamiters are within .2 inches (pipe expander capable) but is more exspensive still then the RS3

or i could just work on bending a true duel twin undertail this winter with my own pipe bender (could be super sweet but could also blow my budget and leave me with nothing) unliikly this will happen

so looking for some input so you know of a bike that has a factory 2 inch pipe that the RS3 would slip onto to get a matching pipe size?

Thanks
Mike

it's just a pipe that gets hot gases away from the engine....

but if you gotta make it loud, two under is the way. everybodies doin it. it's kewl.

ya im not so sure i have the facilitys really to do the twin pipe.

APT parking lot isn't a great work shop they don't like me to much now that a fuel line leaked on the bike and destoryed a 4 foot square of asphault. (BTW gas breaks down the tar in asphault)

Try EX500 exhausts.  The cylinder port spacing is slightly different but if you go with D&D it won't matter.  You'll have to get crazy with a rear hanger, though...that's the only real difference between the two systems.

Don't bother trying to do an undertail.  Been there, just doesn't work cleanly.  You can get the muffler/s under the tail but you have four feet of exhaust pipe sticking out in various places.  Personally, I'm always for custom jobs..

I seem to recall someone (or some people) that has fitted the TRS slip-on to earlier model bikes by getting a muffler shop to make up a short adapter that goes from the old to new diameter - all for pocket change.  Apparently this is the way to go because the stock headers crack when expanded.  A quick forum search will provide the details.  You also save your $170 worth of new headers.

Of course you might decide on a different system altogether, I just thought I'd share to complete your picture.  :thumb:

Jardine headers are bigger pipes with a smoother merge and no X over buy the heads and gain clearance to the oil filter. thats why i really want the headers more then anything

I vote full Jardine.

It's a nice system that has a good growl down low, and a (Not as obnoxious as D&D) scream at the top end.  :thumb:

You cant go wrong with the Jardine the others apart from sound are not worth the price and effort for only a 2 hp gain unless you can make the twin pipe set up but stick with the Jardine :thumb:

your right they only make it for the 04-08 (but it fits all models) i don't know why they don't say it fits the older ones but it does. i guess they designed it for the F model only and never checked to see if it fit the older E.

it does tho

your right thats why i was't trying to spend alot but since i could get a good deal on the parts i went of it.  i think spending an extra 30 bucks and getting a yoshi muffler that i can get a quiet pack for and i would say its better quality then the jardine (and it sounds sweeeet).

now i wouldn't have spent much more cause your right the gain is minimal.

i might still pay with bending a true twin maybe just side pipes but look at doing a twin undertail i think it would sound sick cause they would be fireing at different times.  ill see what i can get a small bender and exhaust pipe for.

if it works maybe ill make some to sell

Hey, I didn't read all the posts ... but I ahve a V&H for a GS, full system, jet hot coating, and some minimal rust, will be sanded and painted with high temp before getting sent out. $200 and shipping. Yea, the can has some weird crap huge ass phillips screws on it instead of the stock.
Cool.

...except for slip-ons due to the differing diameter of headers over the years.
