Any experiences with MANIC Salamander?

I've been contemplating hitting the highway a few times this fall on my ZZR600.  A few years back I did some iron-butt riding on my 2001 R6, so I know I can handle it fairly well, but I'm very interested in a throttle-lock to keep the endurance level up.  MANIC Salamander makes a bar end weight/throttle lock that looks appealing for 100 beans.  Anyone have any experience with this product or MANIC Salamander in general?

Oh yea ... kerry was it, or someone here - old timer, maybe GSJack ... invented this with a wingnut on the end of the weight ... IMHO ... more useable than this pretty BS.
Cool.

I've never used one and doubt if i ever will.  you need all your concentration while riding.  a throttle lock, with headphones playing who knows what and a long stretch of straight road is just asking for trouble.

get one of those wrist saver deals that just snaps on the handle.  Its gonna work better, and be safer.

I agree that you need all of your concentration while riding.  I fail to see how use of a throttle lock on the open highway adversely affects this.  Response time, maybe a little, but concentration? :dunno_white:

Basically, I'm on a sport bike and would like to be able to one-hand the bars from either side to minimize fatigue on highway-eating ventures.

BTW, I never listen to music while riding either.  I tried it once and it was terribly unnerving.

Anyhoo, I really didn't want to start a debate about the merits of the device, just find out if anyone knows how effective/reliable this particular design/company is.

So nobody on the board has any experience with these items?

simply put, if you have a throttle lock then you are not paying as much attention to riding as you should.  you have milliseconds in a critical situation and your throttle is locked.  also with out your hand on the throttle you don't have full control.   but it is up to you i was just putting in my two cents.

Are you using oem bar ends or have you gutted the stock clipons and switched over to hollow tube expansion plug style aftermarket bar ends? I don't know about your KAWI but honda clipons have weights for vibration damping inside the clipons as well as the bar end mount stuff.

The last throttle lock I had was a vanda cruise on my 83 wing, the ability to switch hands and relieve stress is critical in long distance mile grinding rides.

If you can fit a vista cruise or vanda cruise you'll be better off since factory clip ons and bar ends do a better job damping vibrations. I do know one person who has used these.
