Hello All,

Well my lower fairing bolt is stripped.

I am going to need to drill it out when i change my oil and put in new plugs , in oh about 1K miles.

Do any of you guys have any details on the bolt so I can go pick one up at a hardware store or something?

Also, any tips on drilling it out? I am going to borrow one of those extractor bits from a friend.

Thanks

I will give you one..........let someone who knows what they are doing tackle it.

Alright, well If you could it would be much appreciated!

Probably will have my friend do it but it seems pretty straight forward.

I have a naked bike so I don't know what the fairing bolts look like.

Irwin Bolt Extractor Set.
Instructions. Select proper size bolt extractor. Tap on snug with hammer, attach socket wrench and yank that sucker out. This WILL work. It applies more torque than an EZ out and the diameter of the head tapers so as you're applying torque you're actually making the grip on the bolt tighter.

I used to to extract 6 hard to reach intake manifold bolts that were completely seized in my car's head. THAT SUCKED!

im not sure exactly which bolt you are talking about but all the mounting brackets for the under crowling are just bolted to the frame. If you can manage to unbolt the bracket you might be able to figure another way to get it out.
as for a replacement bolt, ether get one from your local dealer or go to the hardware store and get a matching bolt with a large washer.

Its the lowest allen bolt that holds the fairing on, the Lowest and farthest back next to the botom of the frame and engine case.

I'll check out that erwin or just use an extractor bit. We shall see.

Is the head rounded off, or is it just spinning in the hole?......can you put a nut on the back of it?
