alright my problem is that i started my bike today after filling up last night and it would idle for a few seconds than it would die on me id start it up again and it would die immedeately after 2 seconds and after that it would take me holding the throttle wide open and holding the starter for about 10 seconds after that if i didnt give it constant throttle it would immedeately die on me.  when riding it if i launched normally it would go the same speed no matter how open the throttle is for about 50 feet and then it would launch like a bat outta hell and on the road if i didnt keep throttle on it it would act like its wanting to die and would bogg down even at 70 if i didnt keep it over 7500rpm

and before you think it was the gas i have already drained it and put fresh gas in it form a place i use every time and trust not to have water in the gas so i have ruled this out as a possibility because it has happened to me before.

my question is what can i do other than a complete rebuild on the carbs to fix this

it is modded and has a wileyco slipon exaust a k&n lunchbox and a dynojet jet kit

before sombady gives you the spart (butt) response the general statment about dynojet kits is they are way over priced crap and never seem to run right.

you need 40 pilots 150 mains 3 turns and 1 washer

i would def pull the carbs and ditch that dyno jet kit as step one it can't posibly hurt you

ohgood

+1 for ditching the dyno jet crap. those needles are just too aggresive, and the slides, jets - blah

i'd assume you're getting fuel and spark ok, and wonder if your ignition were the real cause ? a vibration induced ignition problem will feel like a fueling problem.

check the plugs, check the float height, and check that you have uninterrupted fuel flow.

draining the bowls again just to make sure there isn't any water in there may help, but i doubt it since you've already replaced it with fresh gas.

:)

Was it running fine before ... If yes ...
Was it acting that way just before fill up ... If no ...
The fill up caused it ... and I vote vacuum lock in the tank.
If it was shitty before ... then I vote DJ crap.
Cool.

well the thing is i took it to bikes blues and bbqs for the first 2 days and it ran great no problems whatsoever and i parked it for the last 2 days and rode a cbr600f4 got back on the gs 2 days later and it still ran pretty good but it started acting up and bogging just a little bit at really low rpms(below 3000) and i fill up that day on the way home and it sat untill the next day when me and my dad wanted to go for a ride so i hop on and start it up it idled fine for about 35 to 45 seconds then it bogged and died so taking form the experience of last time i got bad gas i drained the tank and put fresh in i started it up and it ran pretty good for about 2 minutes untill i got to the gas station up the road so i hop off and fill up i start the engine and it started back into the same thing as before i drained the fuel.  but the thing that makes me think its not a fuel starvation issue is that if i keep the rpms up really high it will ride but i have to keep them around 8000+ and have constant throttle imput so i dont think its a fuel starvation issue

i hope this info helps to pinpoint the problem

and in regards to the dynojet thing i agree its really agressive and i wish i would have known how agressive they really where before i bought it but i dont have the money to rejet it right now (or the time for that matter)

When you put tank back on did you have problems routing the fuel lines? Any of them tight/pinched anywhere? Did you turn the tank petcock all the way back on? Vacuum lock  like suggested could also be the problem.

Maybe you got some crap gas  and now have come crud in the carbs too.

Check everything over...try running it on a separate fuel supply  ( tuning fuel supply....like a small  lawn mower tank or the universal radiator overflow deals at Autozone /Advanced Auto etc work great).

Carbs are fun.

Good luck.

well i had it rejetted about 3 months ago and we didnt have any problems with routing the fuel lines and i have replaced the fuel in it with good fuel that we also ran in a cbr and its still runnin fine and its getting enough fuel because its leaked al over the place that night because i forgot to turn the petcock off of prime nad i didnt pull the tank off when i emptied it i just took the hose leading from the tank and drained it that way

I'm glad to know that it's not just me because I'm having the exact same problem.  However, I have stock jets.  The bike sat for a while and battery went dead.--Replaced the battery.  First time I tried to start it, it took 10minutes of screwing around to get it to stay running( I had to put starting fluid on the plugs).  I thought it would get better the more I ran it, but it was still really boggy when I hit the throttle, until it hit 4000-5000 rpm, then it takes off.  So after I let it run for 45 minutes or so, I shut it off and put it away.  Next morning, tried to start it, and it took the same amount of effort( choking half way, giving it gas, etc.) to get it started.  It still backfires like hell, stalls whenI put it in gear half the time,  -after I hit the gas it bogs for a second then picks up to 800rpm or stalls, still back fires throughout the powerband  Its all messed up.  The exhaust smelled like gas if that helps, and the plugs weren't fouled bad if at all when I pulled them out.
Thanks for all the help in advance!

natewesselink

ya it sounds like you have the same problem i do but i think im just gana have a mechanic that i know take the carbs apart and see what the problem is but who knows

It is really hard to read your posts without punctuation.

Does it run better or worse on Prime?

If the gas is overflowing out of the carb, though, your float bowls aren't set right.  That's something easy you can fix.

natewesselink

ya the gas will flow out of it when its on prime.  and no it doesnt run any better weither its on prime or not.

if you have ever had bad fuel its acting like that but it has the same fuel in it as my dads cbr does and the cbr is still runnin great
