15 tooth sprocket?

I remember this summer everyone was crazy about the 15 tooth sprocket.  What happened to all that talk?  Has anyone ever tried a 14 tooth, or will that never make it on the highway?

i would also like to know more about 15 or 14 tooth sprocket....where do you get it?

i went to the 15 t sprocket gives the bike more pep.  still just fine on the highway maybe i will try  a 14 next time.  i got mine at my local dealer.
pretty cheap i think it was somewhere around 12 to 15 bucks

The website has been updated somewhat so I think the price and manufacturer has changed.

Be careful --> certain years have a "shoulder" on the front sprocket. Although some say it is not necessary, I would not take a chance. Check my post at the bottom of this link for info and pics of the different sprockets:

depending on tiresize and rear sproket.

15 tooth front 41 rear and a 150/60 would seem to run out of rev really quick, you could start off in 2nd gear like it was first.  you would deff be able to pop the front up, but couldnt hold it as you would over rev too soon. not to mention @ 70 mph you would be at like 8k rpms or more. your milage would be shot to hell. now a 14 tooth on top of that i dont belive would be worth it even stunting, your better off fine tuning with larger rear sprokets as there are more of them to choose from at a better price.  there arnt many bikes i would think using a 14 tooth front sproket.

taller tire smaller rear sproket larger front,you will turn less RPM's and your milage would go up, to a point.

general consensus is that you'll rev about 500rpm higher than normal at any given point with a 15t sprocket and all else being stock. slightly more buzziness at highway speeds but more drive inthe lower rpms. An excellent, cheap mod to get more acceleration.

i believe suncoast or sunstar (if thats the name i can't really remember) makes a 13 tooth front sprocket for the gs

i have also seen 12 tooth sprockets but i can't remember what they were for

Anything smaller than a 14 tooth will jack your chain as it isn't designed to turn around such a tight radius.  14 is fine, the stock front sprocket on my FZR 600 is 14 tooth.  I loved the 15 tooth front sprocket I put on the GS when I still had it, it made the revs feel more natural at every speed.

14 T is FUN.
it will actually accelerate out of a corner
it changes the gear ratio and allows the engine to rev quicker
and feels like it actually has power

yeah, i need a new chain.....big frickin deal.  what $30-40 bucks? :roll:

With stock size tires I wouldn't recommend smaller than a 15 on the front unless you never plan on cruising the highways. With larger rear tires you need a 15 just to get the stock gear ratio back.

When I went from 150/70s to the stock 130/70s and from a 16 front to a 15 front my clutch was much happier. Starting out in 1st I don't have to slip it nearly as badly as I did before. As for how it rides I just traded my overdrive 6th gear for a extra low gear. So now it feels like 1 is low, 2 is 1, etc . . . and 6th revs like 5th used to. As long as your in the right gear the ratio between them doesn't change signifigantly.

At low speeds there is enough torque muliplication now that I have to be careful about kicking out the back if traction isn't perfect and I can almost get the bike to understeer if I power through a corner harder than I should. With the stock gears and big tire it was never possible to get the bike this close to it's limits. The big back tire just used up too much extra power even if I was in the right gear.
