IF YOU CANNOT FATHOM THE FACT THAT ELECTIONS ARE A WASTE OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS, TIME, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ACTUAL NEWS MAKING IT TO  THE PEOPLE, PLEASE STOP READING NOW.

I'm only going to say this once, so read carefully:

If you really believe this election (or any other afterwards), you're deluded.

Politicians DO NOT LIVE IN THE SAME SOCIA-ECONOMIC WORLD AS YOU !

If you're one of those people that thinks a black man or a white man matters in the office, you've missed several hundred years of history, and the election is completely lost on your range of understanding.

Please, vote if you like.

Please, do not debate the bulloh my goodness spiel you heard on xyz station last night, nor act like I've just slapped your first born when I say your vote does not matter, and will change nothing.

There, now continue with your lives, punch the clock, and enjoy knowing you've just changed the world, started a revolution, and exercised your right to swing an emotionally charged and common sense lacking election 1/20,000,000th of a degree one way or another. I really don't give a oh my goodness.

I'd rather PLAY THE LOTTERY, AND KNOW THE CHANcES OF CHANGING A LIFE (MINE) ARE ACTUALLY MILLIONS OF TIMES BETTER THAN CASTING A VOTE !

eat it

ps- and to you goof balls that like to blame 'those damned republicans' or 'those idiot democrats' you're part of the problem. think about it. moron.

What the hell? Why are you so bitter? Screw off. Move to Saudi Arabia where you have no rights or China. Voting is a precious process here in America. Yes so it's plagued bu human greed/corruption (vote fraud, nasty politics, elitism).

But it's one thing that the popluation can use to steer our Representative Republic in a certain direction.

It looks like Obama is gonna win the election and that's because hardworking American's were inspired to action by him. He refused public funding and now he's spending J McCain by 8 to 1 in most states. That's because the people are funding his campaign.

Be as grouchy and mopey as your want. The truth is Mr. Obama is going to take this country in amazing directions. It's just sad we had a f%$king bonehead in office the last 8 years taking this country into a straight nose dive towards the ground.

Telling people to not vote is idiotic.

Yea we dont need a worthless vote in of the same idiots who were part of the problem ... we need to flush every one of them out ...
Vote all incumbents out ... and dont gimme that crap about inexperience ... Jesse Ventura did well in Minnesota ... he said of that position ... experience ... what you will need to know to perform as governor you will learn in 2 weeks after the election, and there is 2 months.
BTW ... Bush was pretty inexperienced too, and the repubuicans did not have any problem with that ...
They call Obama a socialist, and that is right after they nationalised the whole financial system ... so if obama is a socialist and he definetly is, Bush and his cronies are communists ... which of course they are.

Ohgood is right though ... we dont need an election now ... we need a revolution ... followed by an election where every level of stale politician is flushed out.

Obama will be bad, McPalin will be a lot worse ... and Bush Cheney have taken it to the point of no return.

Somehow being an Idiot is a big qualification for being president.
Cool.

No no no Mr. Buddha..............the International/Central Bankers along with their little chapter called the Federal Reserve have taken us to the point of no return. They control both parties as well as finance of the globe. NO MATTER WHO is elected, we are in for a roller coaster ride death spiralling straight into hell. The major job of the News Media is to convince you each day that there is a difference between the two parties. Both are puppets of their Masters. The Repubs just haven't blatantly come after our guns.............

haha I love it. Man, it's obvious you grew up during the sixties. Must have been pretty frightening during the RED SCARE. heh. Sorry but your GOP scare tactics don't work on people <28 years old. The word communism doesn't instill fear in us like it does your generation.

Socialism isn't an insult to us. It's not something we're afraid of. So stop using it like an insult and a scare tactic.

What REALLY blows my mind is how the GOP run on conservative fiscal policy and they are the WORST spenders in history. You realize GWB has doubled our national debt? Pretty funny if you ask me. Here is some knowledge for you.

Notice how the deficit goes down during Democratic presidents and up during GOP presidents. Lap it up boys.

Being under 28 I don't expect you to remember what the economy was like under Carter, suffice it to say would a 21% home mortgage interest rate be bad? The answer is yes and that's what we had. Unemployment was at an all time high and gasoline shortages literally had mile long lines at gas stations. This was due to the sociialist policy beliefs Carter held to. Yes there was a decreasing defecit during clintons administration a pay down of our national debt, because the changes instituted by Reaganomics took time at least Bush senior held to the fiscal policies that allowed the economy to grow an unemployment decrease making us a productive nation. During the clinton years growth from the previous 2 administrations allowed the US to start paying down it's debt.

This concept of equality for all means everyone must stoop to the level of the lowest common denominator in our society. I pray that eventually you grow up and shed the blinders of youth.

BTW what happened to Clintons middle class tax cut he promised? It never happened because he was at least smart enough to realize doing so would mean increasing the defecit since he had no available funding source. You want Obama to keep his promises tell me where he is going to get 1.5 trillion in additional funding? Unfunded government mandates are wonderful things they siound great but then you have to cut other services. Our state is going through that right now the legislature said we must increase teachers pay by x percent and that they had the funding to cover it. 6 months later teachers are getting paid x amount and the stste government says uhhhhmmmm yeah we don't have that money in the budget. Childhood learning services took a huge hit because we only had so much money and by law we had to pay the teachers what we were told to pay.

Go to work in public finace for a while and you will see how bad great socialism idealogies really are.

And I didnt like Bush junior, but he was better than the alternative.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

That's quite amusing! Let's see.......by your graph, it looks as if Jimmy Carter was the best thing since sliced bread! He was the WORST President EVER in our Country (but he was a decent human being). What a fiasco! Hell, I was there!! Yes, I did grow up in the late 50's and throughout the 60's!! It twas a different world. We did NOT and REFUSED TO HAVE the "social problems" that we have today. Just wasn't tolerated. Period. I miss it.

Now...........Clinton was NOT a decent human being but he wasn't a bad President.......he wasn't a great President.......he just didn't "do" anything to speak of except to feed those at the pig trough that got him the office. With the exception of "that" and sitting there like a pickle jar full of stale urine.........he basically was just trying to spew his semen into or onto......what a legacy!

hahahahhahahahahahhahahahaahha :)  :)   :)

Of course Clinton said he balanced the books before he left office........yeah.....he balanced them "on paper" in accordance "with futures"
and his perceptions were wrong. It's all a scam! Get it?????? We are living in a lie!!!

I agree, revolution is needed not election. Elections are just public exercises to win browny points to win the goal (the presidancy) once they are there then they don't have to do jack all what they said they were going to do.

Same here in the UK , each party comes up with fantastic ideas but you know whichever gets in it will make no difference because the entire aim is to become presidant (or PM) and stay there as long as possible which means doing what they want and doing whatever it takes to please the people regardless of helping the country develop because no one person or party is brave enough to do something radical for the good of the country and that alone, even if it means they won't get reelected.

Begin Rant:
I am appalled and ashamed at some of the comments on here.  The democratic process is a waste of our national resources?   :flipoff: you pal ( I say that with the utmost respect).  The political policies of the last eight years has left us in the hole, with two wars to win and a suffering economy, but does it make a difference that he was republican?  No, it could just as easily have been a democrat.  I think the underlying cause of this thread is the disallusionment of younger generations (of which I am a part of) with the corruption which has weasled its way into our voting booths.

#1:  People are fundamentally flawed, therefore making it hard for them to choose the difficult right over the easy wrong, i.e. greed, lust for power, etc.
numero dos:  There is NO way to get a 100% accurate talley of votes when said votes are made on machines which are manufactured by FOR PROFIT companies (leads back to greed and corruption).

but what would you suggest?  That America descend into anarchy and total lack of authority? Some would say yes, but if that were to happen, how long would it be before another country stormed our shores and enforced THEIR authority on us?  It's not about loving what the country is right now, but looking to the future and loving what the country CAN be because of the processes instituted by our founders.  As we say in the Army,  Suck it up, and drive on.  Don't vote if you don't want to, but you can do a lot more damage to the system from the inside, than you can by  :bs: ing  from the outside

Big Lou, I certainly appreciate your service with all my heart but we will be truly free when we break free from the shackles of the Federal Reserve and our Banking System as we know it. We MUST go back to allowing our Treasury to print our own damn money, back our own money and NOT some "private" organization that has NEVER been audited since it's inception.

5) Telling people to not vote is idiotic.

I'll respond to your points, tonight, then others tomorrow...

1) I'm bitter because what -could- be a fine system for electing people that want to make things better -isn't- anymore. Yes, voting -once- was a precious process, but people are complacent, ignorant, and lazy, and believe that casting an electronic ballot is actually a good idea. Suggesting I move out of North America instead of identifying the problems here, is, well, just more of a false solution. My moving to south africa would not fix the system here. Or anywhere.

2) Yes, at one time you could steer. If you believe you're steering anything other than your car to the polling places, I believe you're mistaken. Lobbyists and big business steer more than you'll ever dream. Sorry bout that.

3) I couldn't care less who wins. Maybe you got the impression I disliked Obama, but in fact I have no preference whatsoever. On a side note, if he does win (which I think he will), the racist folks can blame their entire lives on 'that guy' instead of who really screwed things up for themselves. ;)  This is part of the point of this rant. Without eliminating the current bloated, corrupt, ole boys club, there is no real change. No, I really really don't care if the next pres is white or black or purple or a hispanic person that only speaks morse code. The seat needs a good cleaning, not another occupier.

4) Why do you (or anyone) believe that one man, who is SUPPOSED TO BE A PUBLIC SERVANT, is needed to bring about change ? Why is the president hailed as a leader, INSTEAD OF HELD ACCOUNTABLE for severe fuckups ? Beats the hell out of me.

5) I'll agree with you on that point also, since I never said "do not vote". Please don't put words in my mouth. I said there is more to be done in people's (ok, this part I'm adding now, sorry) own back yards instead of expecting some life and country changing event to come about because they voted.

The fact is there needs to be wide spread changing of communities. Communities that refuse to yield to the gov'ners motorcade charging through. Communities that command the gov't to act (hello Katrina refugees!), command that the gov't heal it's corrupt policies, pork, and blatant lies.

Part of the grandness of the US of A is that we were given the right to speak our minds, voice opinions, and venture across our small portion of planet Earth at our will. We sit idly by as big gov't imposes more taxes, more laws, and more self- perpetuating beaurocracy on a stinking daily basis. Why ?

why ?

I'm considerably over 28 and I think your timeline is off. The gas lines happened during the Nixon administration due to the Arab oil embargo of 1973. Unemployment actually went down under Carter. Interest rates and unemployment peaked during Reagans early years. National unemployment topped out at 13.5%...nothing like the 30+% of the great depression. I bought a home in '81 and my interest rate was 11.5%. The highest rate of anyone I knew was 14%. That's not to say that the rate didn't go up later. The economic storm of the early 80's actually started brewing a decade earlier. Carter inherited the mess from the Nixon/Ford administrations. Do a little research on "stagflation" and you'll see what they were up against.
