So you like to whittle in the basement ? Weld a little here ? Artsie up an old axle into a table ? Ever made a tool, jig, or fixture to make life suck less ?

Cool. Post it here, pictures if you like.

The uglier the better. Think of it as an instructable that doesn't need 20 pages of instruction, or a 'hey look at me' without involving nudity or fire.

:)

Chassis sockets for the SV. Why pay for a tool when you can spend hours and hours making it yourself?

Nice sockets Gearman.  I need to make a set too.  Agreed on the hours and hours vs. paying.

Made these a while back as a gift:

Haven't decided what I'm going to make this year.  A tool of some kind for sure.

Beyond that...  I make so much stuff every day, a lot of it 1-off hacks from the scrap pile to solve a 1-off job.  Most of it so ugly I wouldn't dare post pics.

However...  Here are some bike parts:

Making some new wheel bushings for the CBR wheel, on a real man's 14x30.   :)

Old torn up bushings with new.  Much better place to land the seals:

New bushings and a little press brake work; A new SV exhaust bracket from 7075.

Shock adjuster to fit the GSXR 1k shock on the SV.  Yes, I'm lazy about layout fluid remover.   :icon_mrgreen:

I made a rather elaborate press jig to straighten the bent upper triple for the SV I bought on E-pay, but I forgot to take pics before dismantling it and throwing it back in the steel rack.  It worked though.  Got the fork bores back to +- .0015  :)

Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Very nice little arbor press!

So how did you make the rack?  Horizontal mill or shaper?

Horizontal mill.    I use this thing mostly as a nutcracker, although it is fine for pressing small stuff .   It just has to be clamped or bolted to a table.

I've considered making several sets. Komotodraggin sells a three pc set for
$150. Their motor and swingarm tools appear to be modified 12pt sockets. I think I could make them (black oxide finish) for considerably less. The way the economy is looking I may have plenty of time for side projects in the near future.
