I was in a minor accident this evening.  I was at a small 4 way intersection with my left blinker on.  I veered right slightly to begin my turn left and some lady in her bronze cady decides to pass me on MY LEFT!      Brok my mirror and snapped off my choke adjuster.  my hand was pinched between the bars and her mirror as she went by and broke off her mirror.  No fall over but anger was difficult to control.  Luckily I was 4 houses form by brothers house.  The sucky part, I was 4 houses from my brothers house.  I don't know what she was thinking.  She said something along the lines of, 'you went right so I thought you were going right.'  That just erks me.  The whole lane should be mine regardless of weather I'm turning or not.  thanks just venting.

Glad you're relatively ok, bikes are fixable, idiots pull crap like this all the time, they try to get through a 2 foot opening in a 6 foot wide car because you moved 1 foot in the other direction, but it's still one lane and you're in front...   :cookoo:

any time something like this happens, personally I'd be having a police report made.    I hate people who try this crap.  come to think of it, I'm 99% certain its illegal to pass a vehicle in the same lane as that vehicle occupies.
looking for a new vehicle again.

+1 on that, file a police report even for something minor. Damage sometimes comes to light days after the accident (been there, done that) and if you have the report you can take it to the insurance company later if you need to. Plus, people like that need to get a ticket for dangerous driving, regardless.

NEVER, EVER let ANYONE leave a accident that you are involved in without a police report. When the dust settles, she, he, it, they could cllaim you hit them and fled or anyone of 100 other lies to either get their car fixed, sue you or your insurance co. you for some mysterous malidy that was caused by your reclessness even though they hit you.
I live in the law suit captial of the US and crap like this happens here every day.

Unless you have the rare instance that i had.  A couple of weeks ago layed it over at an intersection.  No contact was made btween vehicles.  She ran, no police report because well, she didnt hit me.  bike was fine, I landed on my feet. No real harm, no need for the drama.  But in the instance of a collision, always always always, get police involved. Glad your ok.  Get that hand checked if it starts to hurt.

never been in an accident in 16 years of driving (furiously knocking on wood), but how do you file a police report after an accident?  should i call 911 and have the other party remain at the scene?  thanks,

shiznizbiz

zactly, and if they refuse to remain on sight, take down thier make and model of car and the license plate number.  Name doesnt hurt if you can get it.  But if its a hit and run, good luck.  Still should call and give as much info as you can.

Agree that the Caddy driver is at fault by your descripton; but I strongly suggest you refrain from feining right before turning left.  It is way easy to fake-out the blue-haired generation and they have $$ and lawyers and Caddy VS Gs500 is a now win scenerio.

My hand is fine, just a light scratch and bruise about the size of a dime.  Oddly though the officer said that reports are not written for minor accidents in that town (Waltham MA)  :dunno_white: . I filed the claim with my insurance today for the first time, I thought it would be more complicated.  All the advice is much appreciated though.

Pigeon: you have a good point,  I tend to take turns wide since my experience still needs building.
I suppose I got used to people not being entirely stupid on the roads,  that was a mistake.
I'll post in the for sale section but I'll be lookin for a mirror and choke control.

Thanks
