winter is here...anyone doing any mods on their GS?

this winter...i'm planning on putting
progressive springs
lower handle bars
15 tooth sprockets

in the future...
GSXR rear shocks
new tires
rearsets...
wileyco, K&N pod, rejet 22.5/65/147.5, F16 flyscreen, progressive springs, 15t front sprocket...more to come: katana shock

over the winter i'm puting in 15t sprocket, k&n filters, exhaust canister and today i started working on the carb...i'm puting in 150 mains and 40 pilots...so far i'm having trouble because i'm not so good with carbs...

Although I plan on riding through the winter my future weekend mods are as follows:

1. eliminate petcock along with reserve --> straight line from tank petcock to carbs with a fuel filter quick disconnect in between.

2. braided front brake cable (would installing rear braided brake cable really be necessary/worthwhile?)

3. replace the black, nitrile rubber hoses (thick; tends to crack and harden w/age) with clear PVC hoses (thin; flexible; almost impermeable to pinching) for my fuel lines

I wouldn't think that steel braiding the rear line would have much of an effect. The front?.... good mod.

Started on mine today. Almost finished putting the engine back together. Just need to get grease for the cams and put the cover on. Installed 1 over pistons, ported & decked head, necked valves and megacycle's high lift cams. Looks like I get to rejet again.
Did find a problem when I took off the ignition cover. One of the screws holding the ignition plate fell out and the other was loose. This may explain my erratic running at Jennings recently. Thought it was carb related. Looks like locktite is going to become my GS's buddy as well.
Common sense in not very common.

I'd like to repaint the whole bike, but I really fear that I wouldn't be able to put all the bits back properly... so

Get tank and plastics repainted
Redo suspension - have Kat 600 shock waiting, need progressive front
Install that rear tail light
New tires, probably BT45's
Get carbs rejetted properly, install fuel filter and redo hoses

Well, I do need to get some space in the garage so I don't freeze my fingers off :P

The mods I just finished were more like "end of fall" mods... but now the bike feels a lot better. First installed progressive springs without spacers like a month ago, then after 2 or 3 weeks of normal riding I put spacers longer than specified (1.25" instead .75"). The next week started the headlight conversion to the TCP elliptical, then took the bike to a workshop and got the Metzelers Z4/Z2 installed for $10 each, and next day resumed the installation of the TCP fairing. The funny thing was that once the TCP fairing was installed I felt like riding a cardboard box, too wide and sight obstructing, but i am becoming familiar to it...

Pending is a steel braided front brake hose which will obligue to change the brake fluid, and a Kat shock as soon as I can get one cheap, and next will be valves check, and spark plugs, which have almost 10,000 miles on them.
Y2K golden GS, K&N lunchbox, 140/40/0/3, Progressive springs, Michelin Pilot Street Radials 110 & 140, R6 shock, braided front brake line, 15T sprocket, LED H4 bulb...

Installed a katana 600 shock about 2 hours ago. Wow what a difference. I am not to sure how to tune it in yet, but more then likely I will do that in summer when I can handle going for more then a 15min ride. Right now I have it on 3of 7 for spring preload and on 3 of 4 for the rebound. Bike feels about 100 times better durring acceleration. Hardly any "squat" at all. Before I would say it squated at least 2-3 inchs. Now maybe 1 inch I would highly recomend getting one if you can swing it, and it is simple to do.

Next progressivre springs, clutch, full paint.
