Anyone know if these pegs will fit a GS?

I got my RS3 mounted today, and there is not much clearance to the midpipe at the bottom of the foot peg because I was able to use the fatter stainless pipe (with a little tweak but I was okay with it, I got the overall effect I'd wanted) that came with the yummy carbon fiber can. It hasn't melted yet though (the rubber on the peg).  I'd wanted to change out my pegs anyway, and I wanted a little gold somewhere else on the bike beside the rotors.
Any clues? I also wanted to try SV levers, any clue as to fit on a 2001 GS?

They look essentially the same as the pegs I wrote the cheap pegs upgrade Wiki entry about a few months back.  Read up, it tells you everything you need to know. :thumb:

Those pegs may work, you would probably have to grind the bottom a little so they'll sit flush and use some washers so they're good and snug. I'm not positive, but that's what I had to do with the peg upgrade mentioned above.

As far as levers go, the gs uses its own specific clutch lever, so no other bikes are compatible. You could use the whole sv clutch assembly. I'm not sure about the sv's brake lever, it may work, but don't quote me on that.

Hi Guys,

Thanks!

I like the look of the pegs in the Wiki, but they look kind of small, I like the security of a snug foot plant. I had to put BMX pedals with adjustable  tiny gripper pegs (the $90. Shimanos, not the cheapies) on my MTB because I can't wear clip ins and need that sticky quality. So I was hoping for something cleaner looking but still wide enough and with a good grip for a booted foot. It would also look a lot nicer on the bike now with the nicer exhaust and fatter midpipe. So you two don't miss the big rubber foot pegs as far as stability and feeling secure in the saddle?

On the levers, if I could only fit a front brake even that had more curve toward the grip it would help me with my smaller hands to cover the front brake easier. Clutch isn't a problem, I mostly upshift without it. However, trying to stretch over the brake for long periods of riding is aggravating my carpal tunnel syndrome. It was terrible once and I got treatment for it, and it's been fine but riding has started it up a bit again, and I can't afford to have it get worse, it will affect my work. I was also wondering if maybe my levers are really floppy because the bike was dropped (PO!) on each side, and maybe the bolts are a little loose or tweaked...  the brake lever is adjusted all the way up on the adjuster wheel.

Those pegs are cheap enough, I have access to grinding equipment etc, so I may order the titanium color.

Thanks for the help!

Once you get 'em installed throw some pictures up on the wiki so other members can follow your lead.  :thumb:

No - actually the opposite.  I prefer them to the stockers.  I like the way they hold the heel of my boot and the way they feel underfoot.

Like you said, there is a cheap way to find out if they are for you!  :thumb:

The stock pegs with the huge rubber have got to go....what can I replace them with that will fit?

ALSO, the rearsets are pretty plain, is there a better quick bolt-on upgrade?

I dont know if this will help, but a have replaced the front brake level to an adjustable one which also helps my hands.
It's  from a kawaski
description on part (front brake lever zx6/zzr600/1100)
slips right in with no modecation.
I hope to also look at replaceing the clucth lever as well but need to look into which part will fit.

Does anyone know if the pegs in my previous post in this topic are good for the gs500, with the minor mods?

Pleaseee, the listings may end soon

From the pics, they look right.  But I haven't done it.  Looks like you'll have to take the chance.  That's all part of the fun!  I'm thinking about a flyscreen for a Buell XB9S.... Don't know how it will work, but it ought to be fun.  And if it doesn't work, I'll Ebay it and get most of my $$ back.
